A friend of mine has a set of XHP Vegas rims that he might be able to get for me cheep (read free):ninja: that are off a write off BF XR8, 2 need some minor repairs the others are in good condition.

Has/is anyone running 8.5" wide rims with a 245 wide tyre? what rubbing issues do you have. Prity sure the guards are going to need rolling (in steps my mate the panel beater) and anyone know of any other issues with fitting them not including legal reasons...

PS I searched but couldn't find too much other than the legalities about tyre size/width/track etc.

I've got 20's with 245. Yea they scrub a little when body hunches down so like in hard cornering, when your reach the bottom of a sloped road etc. At first its like your world is being torn apart but after a while when you realised it really isn't doing too much to your tires (mine show almost no wear from scrubbing) so you get over it, but does get frustrating when mates or family jump in the car and make oooh and ouch sounds once your used to it. So other than that and the price per tyre haven't had any other worries. My guards still aren't rolled I just get by with out it and I pretty much get no attention or questions from police even under two close inspections of the car.

The only legalities you have to worry about in QLD is the overall diameter. Tell us what size the stock tyres are, and the size of the tyres on the 20's. Otherwise, maybe do a test fit. You MAY get some scrubbing on the front suspension.

Same in SA there was rumour they where going to, look at load ratings soon though, rather than rim size.

I cant remember what the factory tyre size was, I think it was something like 205/65R15, It had 17x8's on it when I got it off my little brother and then I up graded to 18x8's, both running 235 wide tyres, never had any rubbing issues with it. It's lowered on Pedders Sports Ryder suspension, currently I've got AU falcon steelies on the front and EF/EL falcon steelies on the rear.

Last I checked, but don't quote me, in QLD your allowed 3" rim diameter, +/- 15mm Rolling diameter, +/- 1" in Track and the load rating and speed rating must meet or exceed that of the largest wheels tyre combo available from factory...

So if I'm running 245/30R20's in the correct offset with good tyres I should only be able to get defected for rim diameter...

PS: the car is a 98 TF Wagon for those who missed it in my avatar lol

245/30/20 will be within the +/-15mm rule, it will just depend on the load rating. Pretty sure your car will need 94 or 95+. Keep in mind it will ride like a barrel of ass on 20's.

You can have rims of any diameter as long as your rolling diameter is with in +15/-26mm. You're correct about the rest. (Source (http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/file/ebde8d0521b67c6/Pdf_modification_motor_vehicles2.pdf)).

I have 245/30r20 on 8.5" rims off of a falcon on my wife's ralliart. They do push the relams of sticking outside the front gaurds, but having the ralliart flares helps. I have spent alot of time modifying the gaurds and flares to make the car driveable, and still have slight issues with adults in the back seat.

cool, thanks again for all the info. Hopefully going to do a test fit this weekend i guess that and then a drive will be the real test.
