Hey Guys Cheers For The Positive Feed Back.

Like I Said Its Not Finished Yet, So Will Look Even Better When It Is.

I Took A Bit Of Time Out To Consider The Design So I Could Still Get To The Spare And Also Access The Amps And Tail Lights. i think it Still Looks The Goods tho and Im Pretty Happy With How Its Gone So Far, Especially For The 1st Attempt Of Something Like This. Anyways Will Hav More Pics When Its Complete. ;)

I'm the first to admit I'm a dumb @ss when it comes to audio - but I want to be converted. I've finally decided that I'm gonna bite the bullet and get splitz instead of taking the easy way out and getting 2 or 3 ways for the front. I was scared of having to cut/drill to mount the tweeter but I notice you've got yours in the door.

I've read on here that (correct me if i'm wrong) the VR-X or some equally optioned versions of the gen III's have 6 speakers in that format std - but for all the rest of us, there's a part you can buy from mitsu to mount one in the same fashion.

So forgive my ignorance cause I'd really like some info about how you went about installing your splits/components (whatever you kids call them nowadays).

thnx

Yep Splits Are The Go Man 4sure.

You Can Definately Get The Verada Or Vrx Option For The Tweeter Although Im Not Sure How Much They Sell For But They Dont Mount Where Mine Are, They Are Sort Of In The Corner Of The Door And Window, If U Get Wat I Mean. The Triangle Plastic Bit. I Just Cut My Door Out, Which Is Ok, But It Does Have Its Problems.

For Best Sound Tho, Get Splits Cos Nothing Compares.

Haha, fair enough. Just quickly, an acronym is a word formed from initials. Eg. "AMC" (an acronym) stands for Aussie Magna Club, "RMS" stands for Root-Mean-Square, etc. However it is slightly different to a Mnemonic which is an acronym used as a memory aid. Sorry for the English lesson.

I think teK-- was making light of the way you have put an UPPERCASE letter at the front of every word. It's cool dude, at least you're using uppercase letters, and they're at the beginning of words, not scattered around in the miDdLe of them.

Nice work on the boot and doors. I especially like the tweeter mounting in the doors, looks very professional. Just wondering about your amps and heat. I hope they get some airflow in those compartments, although I doubt they'd get too hot. Something to think about.

Hell yeaH dude!

Boot looks clean, perhaps a couple of stailness steel halogen downlights would look good. Thats what I used and it really set the enclosure off.

BTW your deck, steering wheel and gear knob look sweeeeet! So jealous lol

Keep up the good work mate

So what's the optimal technique for cutting a hole in your door??? measure it up, stencil it out, go at it with a box cutter and a really steady hand?? or is there a more scientific way?

Could prolly use a hole saw :D

UNDR8D
17-06-2004, 08:01 PM
yeah as phonic said use a hole saw.

the only problem with mounting the tweeters where i did is that it isnt completely flat, so there is about a 1mm gap at the top and bottom of the tweeter. however i have fixed this with a rubber grommet so it isnt too bad.

as far as the amps getting hot i dont think it should be a problem as i have mounted them on two pieces of 25x25 timber and there is about 100mmm of air space all around. also i will be cutting out the 8 ralliart stripes in each panel and putting mesh behind with neons inside where the amps are. i think this should look **** hot and also allow for more ventilation.

where the tyre panel is i'll be cutting out a mitsi diamond logo and doing the mesh and neons, but this is just for looks.

getting the vinyl to trim tomorrow, so hopefully if i get time inbetween working it should be trimmed at the end of the weekend. :dancin:

I'd like to know how he's gonna find time finish his boot install when he types with every word starting with a capital letter. Must take forever to type a post LOL :rofleek: :bowrofl:

Nice work BTW.

Hehe. Actually I Always Type My Posts With Caps Lock On Cos I Find It Easier To Read, But Then It Automatically Changes To Just A Capital At The Start When I Submit The Post. ;)

OK, managed to trim the boot and just finished now. All i need to do now is mesh behind the mitsi logo cutout and the ralli art logo cut outs and put the neons in behind them. im pretty happy, certainly looks so much better with the vinyl. took me a while to do though, and being the first time ive ever attempted something like this i was obviously learning as i went. but the end result is definately rewarding :D

oh yeah, the subs absolutely crank too! i made the box to the specified litre capacity and it makes a hell of a difference!

anyway, hope u like.
