Hey guys, i replaced the interior roof light with a LED one like this:

It works great, except for the fact that when its not "on", it remains on but very dim, not enough to drain the battery or anything but yeah its annoying.

Any ideas?

I should note that ive got a 05 magna

When the engine is off there are many circuits in the car that are still active. You are just seeing some leakage, not noticeable with a normal globe. The battery will go flat, in about 100 years or so. Just put the normal globe back in.

Yeh i had this problem too in my old daily. Same globe, every now and then it would show a slight glow. Not sure if its due to residual voltage or what not but like madmax said battery will take along time for it to go flat, especially with a led bulb

Okay, any ideas on a fix?

I really prefer the extra white light inside the car, i use it alot.

Not sure if u can mate. Its definately the globe and like mad max said many circuits in the car are active, and have constant 12v power to them. The interior light is one of them, so to me the options u have are:
-Put stock globe back in
-Replace with a not so cheap bulb. You can buy mini circuit board led lights that require being wired to the interior light. Cost a bit more but they wont emit the glow when off
-Pull the bulb out everytime you get out of the car
or
-Just leave it, cos battery wont go flat for allllooooonnnngg time, but then it looks like you havnt shut the door properly lol

its more so annoying when driving and i have passengers because the slight glow is on then, i dont care about while the car is off.

Can you show me what this circuit board led thing is? I had a quick google and couldnt find specificaly what im looking for.

got the same thing mate, had the LED globe and would just glow at night...its only getting 9v so its not full power but just enough for LED's. where as the old globes need full 12v or around abouts.... there might be a device that you can put inline that will stop this...will have to ask auto sparky or something tho as im not sure

This is not exactly helping you but I thought it interesting that I fitted some led stop/tails & with the lights off the front parkers light up very very dull & are not led.
I also fitted rear blinker led's & now the blinkers flash very fast but with the 4 ways they flash normal.
I don't understand all this, anyway sorry to kind of hijack your thread.

Your flashing light are going to play up because your load of your old bulbs are more than the led ones. So your flash does work well with less load :) You might be able to put a zenner diode into the led globe and stop the led lighting up when you have the doors but an only a guess :)

yeah LED's use less power then the usual globe, there for less resistance.... to make them flash normally again, go to like supercheap and you can buy a LED flasher relay for your indictors

not sure if supercheap sells em but auto barn has em, 15 each and ya need one per side...the size of a AAA batt wif 2 wires comin out...

..get your multimeter out and test door switches, starting with the driver. A sloppy/dirty switch could give you a bit of current leak.

what you are seeing is a tiny current from the BEM that is normally present at the light and will not drain your battery any faster than a regular globe
one fix would be to install a (micro)relay in the circuit so it switches the LED on when the light should be switched on.

I had a similar problems with some cheap LEDs, swapped it for a more expensive LED SMD type, and it works fine.

just click the light to 'off' when you drive :) unless you get some badass led's or modify the circuit as suggested this is pretty much going to happen.
