Hi all!
Joined up on here a little while ago looking for info on the 380's 6G75 as im planning on stuffing one into my NP Pajero as the 6G74's getting a little tired (250k).
Anyway, I bought a SX Series 2 yesterday, get to pick it up later today. I have to say.. DAMN I was impressed how these things go!
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on any problem area's with these cars etc. The test drive went well allthough I think one of the rear wheel bearings must be on its way out (are these a cartidge type?) any Mitsu recals on these models etc?
The 380 joins an ever growing list of Mitsubishi's I have owned and still own! "Love That Car" I guess!

Welcome aboard,
Can't believe you've purchased a perfectly good 380 SX only to destroy it for a Pajero! :eeek: Heartbreaking.. <snif>
Wish I had that kind of cash to blow:eek2:
Might start a campaign to "Save the SX" on you lol

Ohhhhhh! I see!
That's a relief, I'll stop painting the banners then......
Good luck finding wrecking 380's tho', they ARE out there, but in my experience (VIC) not cheap and very scarce. Speaks volumes for it's reliability and drivability if you ask me

Im not looking forward to tracking one down actually, I might see if i can find one cheap enough at salvage auctions etc, Im sure there would be a market here to break one down and sell of the parts etc.. See how I go!
I am very suprised how well these things go, and drive, for such little money!

Uh huh... super charger... Not on this one, I would love to go supercharger on the Pajero with a 6G75 and a set of 35" tyres though :D... would have to be a posative displacement though (roots type).
Picked the car up last night, what a pleasure to drive! the tyres are dodgey as though and noisy as hell.. Might have to look at some 18's perhaps... 235/45's or 235/50's on a 18x8 perhaps.... hmmmm. The audio controls on the back of the steering wheel are a nice touch! Didnt realise they were there till driving home last night!
Will take some pics asap and get them up here.

go 20" wheels mate. Anything smaller looks too small on the 380

20's would be great, not to sure about on a daily driver though... What size tyres are you guys running on 20's?
Kif 380
06-07-2010, 08:18 AM
235/35 with the width of the rim being 8.5 lowered on king super lows and have never scrubbed any where. Just don't get them from tempe tires or ozy tires. Poor quality i've some how managed to crack 3 of my rims 4 times from tempe. Just a heads up mate

Welcome to AMC, plenty of info for new nsw members here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/announcement.php?f=16&a=23)
We are also holding a poker night on Thurs night which you are welcome to attend to meet the team
I run 20's on my Verada and the ride isn't too bad for a daily driver at all

A mate of mine got some wheels from Tempe tyres, only to have gone back to change the things twice already. They gave him different colour rears to the front but didnt realise till he got home in different light. Apparently they paint the wheels themselves and use different paints all the time... it seems they just chuck them on and push you out the door too.
Welcome mate. The 380's are certainly nice looking cars, esp with the right kind of mods and maintenance (kif and mecha are perfect examples)

yep they basically told me to F off. Was considering going to consumer affairs but didn't think i'd get anywhere. He did try selling me more wheels and offering to paint the gloss wheels he had to a matt finish like mine. I told him he wasn't making anymore money from me and left. Steer clear if your considering wheels mate

note taken... i have a few connections in the auto world, so should be able to get a good deal on rims etc when I decide to etc.
Just out of curiosity, how many KMS are you guys getting to a tank. put in 22L this morning for 190kms.

Yehh a few mates of mine have gotten rims from tempe and had problems with cracking, though one of them managed to get a replacement set for nothing.

14l! nasty! maybe I should have bought a 4 banger! ha. Its better than my Pajero at least, usually getting around 16/100 plus.
My trip computer is sitting on 11.2 at the moment. be interesting to see how this goes with a few highway trips.

Can anyone tell me what the factory warranty on these cars is?
Kif 380
08-07-2010, 06:32 AM
5 year 130 thousand bumper to bumper which ever comes first. If your the original owner from new i believe you got the 10 year 160 thousand which covered all the drive train, which ever comes first.

Ahhh bugga! mine just hit 140kms but only 4 years... I thought the rear bearings were on there way out, but they feel fine when you jack the car up and give them a spin etc. Ill have to check the fronts, or it could be the tyres.. Ill have to sus it out more.

mines just behind you at 138 i think and i'm still getting things fixed under warranty lol

Mine's now on mere 71,000k, but I've had only one warranty claim in all that time, the standard busted window regulator (driver's side rear, stopped working two weeks after I bought the car). And that's despite a lot of modifications which you would think would cause problems.
Regards fuel economy, kif is the second person I can remember who has claimed 1000km to a tank or around 6.5L/100km.
That's amazing and pretty obviously only possible in an auto cruising at 80 to 100km/h for most of the 1000km. No way I can get near that in my manual, due to the much higher cruising revs (roughly 600rpm more than an auto at 110km/h). Best I can get is 9 to 9.5 L/100km highway cruising at 110/km/h and that's as long as I don't engage in any WOT overtaking. Around town, including peak hour stop start (with a lot of sitting still idling going nowhere!) and a fair amount of WOT, I get 12L/100km, so at least I catch up with the auto guys around town and end up with better overall economy than many.

if i start to give it to mine you start to see the consumption rise to about 15. I did look in a cop 380 once and saw he was burning around 21.3/100. As long as i stay under that im cheering.

How long does it take for the average consumption to change, done about 500kms already and its still on 11.2

Depends on how many ks since the last trip computer reset, if it was several 1,000 k ago then it won't budge off 11.2 for ages.
To see what you are getting now you should reset the trip computer. To reset just hold down the mode button for 5 seconds until it beeps three times.

I'm getting about 13.8 since I bored the MAF screen (was 14.6), but I drive it pretty hard around the city in peak hour

Finally had a look through my service history book.. Full service history with Mitsubishi! awesome! Just have to see now if they will help me with new rear wheel bearings.. I have the invoice from its 120k service and its noted on there "check/rectify tyre noise", Sounds liek the bearings must have been on their way out back then.
