G'Day, I'm in the process of doing a flush on my TL - however, the sump plug in the factory downloaded W/M is different to mine. Can someone please check these photos and confirm that the one I've marked "X" is the sump plug - I don't want springs flying everywhere! Many thanks.

Mate I have a TW and did a flush at the end of last year and that's the plug I removed to do the drain. It has a magnetic tip on it so I'm pretty sure it was the right one. I had the same issue I think the pictures in the manual indicate that it's on the side of the box but there wasn't any such plug visible. Probably a production revision which did not make it into the manual.

Thanks for that TW2005, my trans oil has never been done (101KM) and has a slight brownish appearance. Regards.

Just finished the trans fluid change - used 11 litres (@$8 per litre) before it ran pink from both lines. Result is pleasing - smoother and firmer shifts and mentally I feel better as know the fluid is OK.
Problems I encountered were removing the rubber hose from the radiator fluid line - had to cut it off and grind the factory clip off as they just didn't want to open sufficiently to slide off - also ran 2 hoses to the oil pan - both ran dirty but rad one cleaned up first which I then blocked - was pleased the magnetic plug only had a 2mm coating of black fur on it and no metal slivers.
All in all, a pretty easy procedure and saved me a minimum of $100 in labour costs. This forum certainly helps.

can I ask what oil you used and are you happy with it?

I used the recommended SP111 from Mitsubishi - $40.70 per 5 litres. Normally I'd opt for the cheapest I could buy...probably Castrol TQ something or other from Kmart or SuperCheap, but opinion on this forum seems to indicate the genuine article is the way to go. I'm happy with it as I do notice the changes are more positive but still smooth and sometimes hardly perceptible....however as I have nothing to compare it with I'm unable to say I'd be unhappy if I used a cheaper non-factory oil.
