Cheers,

Just make sure that your very careful when you take the springs off the shocks with the spring compressors!! (Face them away from your body so if one did come off somehow, the spring would not take off your head...)

Make sure you have good bump stops and dust boots, if not, go and buy some while they are apart so it saves you having to dismantle shocks again in the event one of these items is damaged/totally missing its that shagged

I'll keep it brief as my last related post was deleted. I did my front struts about a month ago.

1. Jack up car and remove wheels.
2. Open bonnet and undo 14mm nuts on strut towers. 3 either side.
3. With wheels removed you will see two horizontal bolts either side holding the struts to the steering. They are 17mm and they need to be undone. Then remove the bolts.
4. Unclip brake lines from struts. Can use a pair of pliers etc.
5. Drop the struts out from the car.
6. Fit spring compressors to the springs. Check and double check they are on correctly. I needed 2 for the driver's side and 4 on the passenger (I think the passenger spring is longer). Compress them as far as possible. An air compressor and rattle gun will make it much easier from this point onwards otherwise expect to be there a while.
8. Undo the nut at the top of the strut plate using a rattle gun. From memory it's a 19mm or 21mm. Keep clear as the spring may still have tension and may shoot the plate away despite being held by the compressors. Face the top of the strut towards a brick wall as you are undoing the nut.
9. Fit new bump stops to new struts which may or may not be included. Remove coil springs from old strut and fit it to the new struts. Ensure that they are seated correctly.
10. Refit first plate over springs. This will only fit on two ways but only one way is correct. The biggest hole on the plate must align with a similarily sized hole in the strut. If you don't, it will make a creaking noise when you turn and affect your steering.
11. Refit top strut plate with nut.
12. Uncompress the springs all the while checking to ensure that the coil springs are seated correctly.
13. Reverse the removal procedure, steps 1 to 5.

Also a tip i've found that helps alot is to leave at least one of the three top strut nuts until last before trying to remove the strut and spring from the car... stops the strut falling down and splitting your cv boot!
