hello all. Just wondering if anyone can smell fuel inside their 380 after filling it up? Basically i filled up this morning drove a short distance to work parked it, jumped back in at morning tea and could smell fuel inside the cabin. I have noticed it for a while now but never thought anything of it. The windows were closed at the servo and doors shut so im still wondering why i can smell it. It does it every time i fill up can some one shed some light on this for me as i couldn't find anything after searching for it. Cheers, Kif

Happenned with my TL too. Happens with my Evo and our Ralliart Colt also. I think it's just a general trait of cars in general. I usually crack the windows and turn off the recycle air for a bit till the smell has gone.

If the smell hangs around even after that, I would get it looked at.

Check that you do up your fuel cap tight enough, a couple of clicks not just one. That fixed it in mums 3rd gen. Also, fresh air for a little while after filling up not just recycle.

I have only found this if I fill it too much & it spills out & goes down the drain hole in the filler. Guess it drains into the inner plastic guard area & the odour gets inside the cabin somehow from there. On a normal fill I have never noticed this.

hmmm im thinking it may be what you said Foozrcool. I can't comment on if its ever done it when i haven't completely filled it up as i've never just half filled the tank ever, ill run it right down before filling it right up to the point that i send about 20c worth of V Power down that drainage hole to ensure its completely full. Hopefully its nothing to worry about

I'm not saying when you half fill it, i mean when you fill it & none spills out into the flap area where the drain hole is. That is the only time I have smelt it when it overflows into the filler area.

oh ok. I might give that a go next time i fill up. But i get so carried away watching pump tv at the bowsers or checking out the hot MILF with the three kids in the back seat and before i know it i have more fuel out of the car then i do in the bloody tank

Also, the 380 seems very unforgiving with that shut-off click that the nozzle trigger gives you. I generally like to continue up to the next 5 dollar mark, but with my 380 fuel will spew out after 2-3 dollars more if I push it. So these days I stop after that first shut-off click.

I've never had this, unless I get a spill onto my shoe.

Kif, first off check all your fuel hoses and get underneath the car with a torch and check the tank. Make sure you rule out any major leaks first off; we don't want another 380 on the funeral pyre.
