hey peoples, i own a 1998 magna wagon. auto
about a month ago we noticed the tappet covers were leaking so 3 weeks ago we got the gasket kits and did the gaskets . well that part was simple but after doing this we went to start the car and it was hard to start kept stalling and it was really loud. so we thought it may have been the spark plug leads so we changed them all and checked the dizzy cap it looked fine. But we still had this problem...... so we disconnected the battery for a while and put it back on, it doesnt stall now and it isnt hard to start ,,, but is really loud still and it has a metallic knock now which is really quite scary.... any ideas as to what this knock could be??? help pleaseeeeeeeee

Have you made sure that the leads are on the correct cylinders?

yep checked it 3 times. number 5 sparkplug was wet with fuel ... do you think it could have something to do with the injectors, looks like its going to be a head off mission see if we can find the problem. Not what we were hoping for but ,, dont know what else it could be. I know that the aircon unit was making a terrible sound ages before all this happened we think that the bearring was about to sh#t its self. do airconditioners make knocking noises?

Is the EGR pipe fitted correctly, I think it fits to the intake plenum & the egr valve rear of engine. Air leaks?

Is a TF, no EGR

Check your inlet manifold gasket for starters but should not really run if is damaged, sounds like oyu may have dropped something in the head area, try and locate if has come from the front or rear bank also
