whats the common problems that inspectors pick on when it comes to magnas?
although mine is no horror story there is a bit of rust showing its head in the bottom of the doors and the front suspension hisses when you push the front of the car down. the brakes also have a slight clunk at low speed although my neighbor will send it to a brake specialist before its handed over. are these sort of things going to be swollen up on paper and render the car un fit for the road? there is also a small chip in the windscreen but if i fill it with that repair goo will they pass it?
thanks for your input

pretty much all of those things. Also check your bushes as any buggered bush's will need to be replaced. brakes for sure, oil leaks is another, and check as usual make sure all lights/horn function correctly aswell as good condition wiper blades.

Small chip in the windscreen I've had pass but then again i've been told it's where the chip is located in the windscreen which determines if its classed as roadworthy or not (Been told that but not sure it's FACT)

thanks for your reply, didnt notice it till now so sorry for not replying back sooner.
i borrowed a dial indicator from tafe today and measured the run out on the front discs and as i expected the front right has way over the limit with 0.335 which would explain the loud clunk from that side every time you brake harder at low speed. the left is only 0.110 which isn't so bad although its still over what the book recommend's (0.1). i will do the back over the week end and hope to hell it isn't bad because the back rotors are worth 3 times as much on eBay as the front. would you recommend the cheep $59 set for the front. the part number is RDA221 so i assume they are RDA products. im not an expert on the matter but should the cheep solid discs be fine as long as i get decent pads (bendix?). call me ignorant but i cant see much difference between a lump of steel thats $59 and a lump thats $100 apart from a few holes and maybe tolerences?
whats the price for a full set from a proper brakes place, installed or not any estimate would be a help.
any input greatly appreciated.
