Well I finally got enough to get some new rear Fill.

I was offered a choice of Kenwood, Sony, Fusion or Eclipse...

So of course I listened with my ears and went with the Eclipse SE6900.

Now usually I am against any Co-axial above a 3-way but these were the best out of the 4 on offer

Now this is going to be an Interesting Combo.
Sony Deck (came with the car and it has sub out so not changing yet)
Clarion SRQ-1625 Splits in the Front doors
Magnat Bull Power 12 inch Sub Ported
Jensen 400 W amp..

Sounds good as long you like how they sound!

Now you just need an Eclipse headunit as well ( later down the track ) :D:D

thats alright, the 2 smaller speakers are just ineffective passive radiators anyway so you still got 2 ways :)

Well we all know my disliking for Kenwood, So they were out, The Sony's sounded a little too Tinny, Fusions were nice, but the Magnet assembly was Massive (Powerplant series)

The Eclipse I went for mainly they had a nice tone to them and the shallowest cast out of all of them..

As for an Eclipse head unit... I looked at the CD5030 but I am not prepared to Spend that much on a Deck, Likely winner will be JVC or Pioneer for IF and when the Sony one Breaks down.
The Sony Deck I have is not too Bad I have to Say

It came with the Car connected to the Stock Speakers and it does have MP3/WMA playback with Subwoofer control so I am content with it for the moment.

Fronts are the Clarion SRQ 1620's Installed on 5 mm MDF baffles in the fronts...

Then there is the Sub

Which at the moment is running off a Jensen 400W amp which is in Bridge mode for 200W RMS on 1/4 max gains.

Nice choice (Eclipse SE6900), they're a nice looking speaker too which is a bonus.

Ironically, I will be replacing that Sony headunit above with a CD5030 in my brother in laws car....

Sony did ok but with the set up he will run, we need a lot more flexibility.

Main thing with the Sony Head unit is the lower bass extension doesnt really seem to go low enough.. I have the Unit set with Bass on 6, Mid on -10 and treble on +2 and its a great sounding set up..
Go too high with the Bass and it just seems to loose its quality and goes right into a clipped signal without allowing the speakers to play low end..
The Sub control on the other hand is good, allows cut-off and seems to allow the Sub to drop bottom without bottoming out..

I like the sounding of the Pioneer Decks and JVC Decks (Even though JVC is owned by Kenwood) so I will be looking there next.
I have the Tweeters on the Clarion Splits wired out of Phase and it really brings out some nice High end response from the tweeters..

The rears will be faded so they play, but only just so as not to throw the whole sound stage backwards.

Direct Bolt in..
Holes lined up perfectly and the stock cover doesnt even touch the Tweeter Bridge.
They Sound Sweet.
It took a bit of re-wiring to sort it out.
The Fronts were out of phase with the Rears, the rears were out of Phase with the Sub.
After a bit of Level setting she sounds sweet as.
The Eclipse Tweeters blend in well with the Out of Phase Clarion Tweeters so the sound stage is not getting drawn backwards.

Little device I made up to get access to the rear screws on the stock speaker... Works a treat...
Its a Phillips head power screw driver bit in a 5mm ring spanner. The Electrical tape stops the bit from falling out..

So yeah very happy with the results.. System is now singing like it should be and although I have the fronts and the rears just off the deck, the sound is pretty damned good.

Awesome Idea for the right angle bit!!

Can I ask how much the Eclipse 6x9s were?

They were less then a fortune but more then bargain basement.

I got them at Frankies Auto Electrics in Albion Park.
I really cannot say what I got them for as they were a runnout deal.

All I can say is I will be going back to Frankies for my future car audio needs.

I am really impressed by the sound they make.. as far as rear fill goes and being powered off the Head unit, I cannot complain.

As pointed out before, they are a 4-way but the tweeter has inbuilt protection from over powering and they are a smooth sounding speaker, really suited to both Metal
and Trance... hard to find a Speaker that caters to both tastes.
