Okay,so i have now decided to upgrade the front splits in the 380GT and was wondering what size /brand which will be a good option.

I havent had the door trim off,so i have no idea even what it looks like back there and the size of them,so any helpful hints and maybe photos would be appreciated.

Im assuming the factory just use in line capacitors/filters to split the frequency's....

and how would i wire in a two channel amp for the sub into the existing system which will be used to power the four speakers..??

You need to make a bracket because the hole is too big for 6.5inch speakers. I dont have any photos, but I perhaps could show you at the meet on Wednesday?

I remember looking at the speakers on the assembly line and was surprised to see that they used a plastic basket, and looked of a lower quality than what was fitted to the Magna. But having said that a lot of employees who had purchased 380's were fitting surplus Eclipse speakers from the Ralliart Magna that were being sold to employees at very cheap prices.

So I guess any 16cm sized speaker for the doors, providing that the mounting depth is not too extreme. And yes the factory speakers used the obligatory capacitors/filters that are fitted to any full range, multi driver speaker.

Probably the easiest way to wire in a second amp is to run a second power cable for the new sub amp.

Then you would need to run 1 more set of RCA's and change the RCA's at the rear of the headunit.

You should be able to fit some decent splits in there. If you are not comfortable, get a pro to do it.

When are looking for opinions on things, you need to give a budget. :D

call me tight...call me what ever, but if i can source a good brand name set of splits from E-Bay ,then...meh..like i care, and i get the extra power cable bit and all that, but not how to get the signal to the 2nd amp....??

I made a simple baffle/ring for mine out of 10mm Craftwood. There is plenty of room under the skin.
As Mr C said, Budget? amp? have you got one? do you need one?
Details Details Details

Please....

I have the Response splits in mine, but I would describe them very much as an American Sound, All Treble and Bass. No sweet Midrange, like a Engish sounding speaker would have.

What head unit have you got. Just the Factory?????.

If you have the second amp already, you'll need to get high level inputs from the fronts to the amp, that way the fader and balance will still all work.

So I'd be tempted to mount the two way amp up the front.

And 6 or 6 n 1/2 speakers in the front, I mounted mine below the dash speaker cover. But Knotched has his set into the the top of that cover, and it looks good.

Well,im just a bit of a scab,so i will run whatever amp and splits i can get my hands onto as long as it has some sort of name and not "zenpower" or the like.

The head unit will remain the std factory GT one.

No i dont have an amp or the splits yet,but Marty, you have answered all my questions in one...use a line convertor from the front to a two channel amp and send it back to the front..brilliant

...but ..where "up the front "would i mount the amp...havent really looked under or behind the dash to see whats there yet...

last question...do i need to run ANOTHER power cable or "shock horror" can i loop the power cable from one amp to the other...or put in a distribution block and split the power...??

So atm ,the Alpine four channel is running the rear subs and 6x9 and i will use the "new " two channel amp to run the front splits.
