Yesterday car - 2.6 4cyl auto 1993 TR sedan - was running just fine.

This morning went to start and it fires up, runs for a few seconds and then stops. Then won't fire just cranks over. Have always tried to keep the car regularly serviced and maintained.

Any ideas please?

Its going again!

Needed the car and couldn't wait for the garage so in frustration last night pulled out the glove box to get to the ECU and maybe check the terminals, or try another as I carry a spare.

I noticed something called the "fuel pump relay switch" I believe. Took off the plug and put it back on and the car started just as normal and is running fine today. This was also the case with a plug onto the distributor a few years ago, which was a corroded terminal. Seems to be a lot of plug connections happening that can give trouble. Hopefully the problem is only this connection.

Anyway so far so good today.

Thanks.

Interesting....Could be a crappy relay? (Might be worth going to the wreckers and getting a spare?)
Also with that connection you said was crappy a while back on the dizzy, personally I'd be filling the plug with electrical grease to stop water getting in.

Hey TUFFTR,

Took your advice and picked up a spare relay at the wreckers, only $10. They sure have a heap of Magnas wrecking out there. Put it in and drove around for while and works OK. The local dealer wanted $290 for a new one, phew!

Drove back to Townsville from Mackay today and no problems.

All good so far.

ok
