Well the drop down screen might block his version when looking in the rear view mirror lol Plus it will look like a wart on the roof lining. I go with the head rest screen :)

So is the screen going in the middle about where interiour light is? Plus are you going flip down the screen while driving? Because it won't block the view if the screen is folded up but will if folded down. So it depends what the screen is doing and what it postion is while driving.

Ok as long you don't use the screen while driving should be fine :)

so basicly a drop down screen will be uselless

I dont thinks theres any laws against it, they come 'standard' with some cars and i dont think its against the law to block the rear view mirror.

The only laws relating to DVD screens that I can think of off the top of my head is that no DVD movies etc can be viewed while the car is moving from the front of the car (ie within the driver's vision). If it's behind the driver you shouldn't have a drama.
Legally speaking, I imagine you could block the rear vision mirror - I mean, most trucks and semis will have something permanently blocking the rear vision mirror. Practically speaking though, I wouldn't recommend blocking it - I know I use mine often :P
For the rear vision issue alone, I'd be going for headrest mounts.
