Hi Guys

Attempted to start the car and would not crank. Starter would not click or struggle as per in a flat battery situation.

Checked the battery and sitting at 12.5V. Lights not dimming etc and all body electrics seem ok. Checked current draw with the IGN off and 22mA draw which is pretty normal from what I can remember. Also checked all the fuses and links and all ok.

Put it battery on charge over night to be sure. Replaced and issue persists.

With the key at start, I can hear the fuel pump going (pretty sure its the fuel pump) but the starter will not engage.

I'm thinking either faultly starter or inhibitor switch faulty. Don't think its an immo issue as it normally will crank for a few seconds then shut down.

Any other ideas?

I will pull the starter and have a look over that and the inhiditor over the weekend.

Thanks

I guess you've tried moving the gear selector to check the inhibiter switch (if dodgy)....other than that I'd suggest giving the starter motor solenoid a bit of a tap with something solid as they sometimes stick.

You can test for power at the solonoid at the starter, if no power is most likely your inhibitor switch

Eitherway, i have starters as well as inhibitor switches in stock second hand here

Yeah tried the selector in different positions.

I assume when checking the power at the starter it should have permanent connection to the batt. terminal and the signal line line is toggled by the IGN.

Will let you know how I go this incase I need a starter / inhib off you.

Cheers
