Okay guys, I need your opinions...

Should I paint my centre console??? If so, what colour??? Blue, silver etc.

Or should I just leave it alone...

I've posted some pictures to get your imaginations going... notice on one picture I have already painted silver the bit around the shifter...

well, if u've painted the surround silver, why don't u stay with silver!

lol, no seriously, i reckon u should stay with silver coz u've already done it, and i reckon silver adds a touch of 'luxury' to it....or u could try that purple harlequin stuff on the second pic lol

i would've recommended u spray the centre console black and do the part around the shifter blue. would've went nicely with ur colour scheme there... then this will make ur dash seem out of place still being the stock colour???

well thats my say :D

You say rice'n.... I say pimp'n.... :dancin: lol

Yeah this is a job I'll start next week hopfully. I'll be off uni then :D .

I was just thinking  ... how about chrome plating? How much is something like that? Is it any good or will it look stupid and start chipping... just a passing thought... :slap:

Wouldnt it be easier to just paint it? i mean chrome plating is expensive and i think it only works on metal...i dunno, you would have to find out.

I think thats a good idea

or even use vinal dye and make it a darker colour or sum thing cos they wont scrach off unless u put a clear coat over the silver

vinyl dye is a good thing to use on the dash and door trims. from supercheap u can buy a carpet/vinyl dye and can do ur carpet and all vinyl parts in ur car (is wat i did). next, from supercheap again, get a plastic primer (clear coat) to put down a surface on the centre console for the paint to stick too. then, spray the centre console with the body touchup paint in layers. don't try and cover the whole console first go... spray it lightly and do several coats. after it all, looks damn good and DOES NOT simply scratch off, even without a clear coat over the top.

I can't see the silver looking too bad with the blue, but are you intending on doing anymore if the center console looks alright? but yeah i'd say go for it, it's not like you can't just change it around later on anyway is it?

I needed to know where u got that vinyl die from... thanks

For my intereor im taking the center consol out and doing it black... then ripping my whole dash out and doing the vinal yet again... black....lol... or some other colour scheme my simple mind has not thought of... then im taking the door drim off and replacing the carpet down the bottom with checker plate... ooo yeahh!!

As for the seats well, im gonna let them wear out and get bucket seats...I mean....REAL bucket seats, lol....

You can pick up vinyl dye from most Repco stores.

I was thinking of doing the same thing too... either with checker plate or mirrors...

Yeah, mirrors would look alright but you would really need a pimpin' intereor to make them look like they belonged there?

Can I get some more info on that vinyl die? Who has used it before? How is it applied? Does it wear off?

i have painted my centre console and dash with black vinyl/carpet paint. u can get it from supercheap and as i said, it can do vinyl AND carpet. very handy since i did my carpets black aswell.

it will come off in places that are rubbed or touched alot. meaning, around the window winder and where the door trim meets the dash wen the door is closed. u also have to take the window winders off and do them with, firstly, a plastic primer and then body touchup paint... all available at supercheap. make sure everything is clean BEFORE u paint. u also have to do the centre console with the plastic primer and then the body touchup paint. just don't try and spray everything dark enough in 1 coat. do several fine coats and let each dry. u will get the best results. a tip would b to park the car in the sun... (not too fun if u are doing the painting) and do fine coats and let it bake on in the sun. i did mine under the house where its all dusty and as my door trims dried, dust flew onto it so now my interior looks dusty all the time, no matter how much i clean it  ... so yeah... just a tip :D

I dyed my shirt knob, carpet dash mat and gear boot with black vinyl dye from autobahn. Worked really well, has a deep colour and doesnt rub off because its a dye and not a paint.

I just want to let you guys know that my centre console is painted and ready to go in this weekend.

Rather than paint my original console, I bought another complete centre console for $20.

I have also further modified my switchboard to 9 switches.

looks like a TP with the upright centre console.

Paint the shifter? Coat it with some other (non-paint) coating?

something definetely needs doing with the shifter
