Hi guys, I've been having issues with my LPG for ages, had it looked at by a gas place and they put a manual power valve in and told me to get a new stepper motor.
I rang around and found a place that had the steppers but the mechanic said to bring the car in so he could check the programming, he said all the programming appears fine.
Then while the car was running on LPG he tugged at the LPG wires and pulled off the positive wire going to the tank and just let the car stop "You'll have to run it on petrol till you fix that"
After finding out I had extended the wires (manual conversion) he said that's what's been causing the problems, and basically left me there, despite telling him the issues with the LPG have been happening long before I extended the wires.
I got home and reconnected the wire, but now my LPG tank is making a loud clicking noise and the gas occasionally cuts out.
Could he have screwed something up? or should I just check that the wires are all ok since he gave them all a good tugg "I just touched it" he says.
Looks like we'll be driving to QLD on petrol this Monday.

Resoldered the -/+ wires to the grey solenoid on the LPG tank.
Still going click glick on accell, just drove about 10k on LPG and it didn't cut out.
I have never, ever heard a clicking noise from the LPG tank, except when switching fuel.
He did screw the idle screw in on my mixer saying I'd played with it, I now know where the idle screw is, could this have done anything?

idle screw wont causing the issue i got lpg on mine it adjusts your idle but the computer corrects it ant way

I didn't think so.. I'm so tempted to get the LPG removed, nobody can seem to fix the hesitation issues, and now just getting someone to look at it has made things worse.

The clicking is most likely the solonoid on the tank, either the gas system is switching on and off or there is a break in the wire further back somewhere

id take it to a good lpg install place get them to sort it out there are some bad places and good ones here on the goldcoast the place i use you need to book at least 6 weeks in advance to see him as he is good
i got my install done three months later i was swapping tyres around and noticed the dodgy idiots that installed my lpg lines run it through the wheel arch.
in and over the cv and drive shaft which is a no no as they move.
had to get it fixed up the install guy siad, my apprentice did it and does not work here no more so i went to the better place they changed it for free and i reported the dodgy guy to the transport department as im sure you must check your apprentice work

I'll recrimp/solder the wires where he pulled them off again, couldn't have happened at a worse time, we're supposed to be driving to QLD on Monday

Yeah Mal. I agree. It sounds like the electronic valve is opening and closing quickly. Sounds like possibly a loose connection somewhere possibly due to cutting/extending wires.
I wouln't think that clicking would be doing your valve any favours mate.

Recrimped and soldered the -/+ wires to the solenoid.
It's still going click click click, more so when accellerating, when cruising it doesn't click as frequently.
Will be doing the trip to QLD on ULP since I can't get anyone to look at it before Monday and that's when we leave.
Since the solenoid gets it's power and earth from the wire which also supplies power to the LPG ecu is it possible my LPG system has been fried?

All I know is that these wires have been extended for months without issue, it wasn't until the + was pulled out while it was running and the wires reconnected that the clicking started, can solenoid be shorted out?

yeah, urm..
Just remove this thread lol..
What a tool I am..
The mechanic must have said "It came out from the bottom connecter" not "It came out from the top connector"
Obviously I had it connected in with a wire that sends pulses to the mixer, now that it's been reconnected where it was the clicking has stopped.
nominate me for the goof award please!
I also just noticed that my front engine mount is shagged!, when will it stop!

I gather you are referring to your front roll stop mount, I have some secondhand ones here that will get you by for the trip if you want

Sorry, I meant the drivers side one (front of engine)
The engine won't fall out will it?, stupid question..
Sux living four hours away when I get all these great offers :(
I wish it were the roll stop coz I have spares in the shed that came with my 5-speed

Lol, I also have new RHS mounts here lol, personally I would not drive to QLD with a broken mount, the engine will be sitting down and the roll stop mounts will then be carying too much load, these are not designed to carry any engine weight as such

Unfortunately I'll have to risk it and fix it up there.
The mount is just cracked along the top (engine hasn't dropped) the actual rubber is still in one piece it's just come away from the top of the mount.
I'll drive like a granny and hopefully it will be ok..

Call me dodgy but for the time being I've filled the small cracks with Sikaflex 227 that I had in the shed (about a 2mm bead)
Might have been a waste of time but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
