Hey

Just wondering if anyone knows if mitsubishi still sell new TJII Magna parts? I've got an 02 TJII VRX and i want to get a manual dash cluster. Anyone know if you can buy these direct from mitsu? I cant seem to find anyone willing to sell one.

There is some sort of law or protocol that states car manufacturers must provide parts for a vehicle for 10 years after manufacture, so technically yes they should be able to sell you one. Will they, and will you be able to afford what they ask are two totally new questions :)

Money is not a problem. Then again i wouldn't want to be ripped off. I just want to know if they have any. Knowing my luck they dont lol. I might give them a call tomorrow.

I know of at least 1 member who has recently purchased a brand new VRX series II cluster

Call your dealer, ask them for a price, if you can not get a price, I have a vin number here for a manual here and can see if I can arrange

It is poss that they may be obselete now as many parts are down to the last few bits

just wondering, i had a lancer that was manual and i put an auto dash in it, i just used the manual black plastic bit to cover up the bit where the PRND....stuff is. im pretty sure that it will work, oh and theres an auto one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RALLIART-magna-guage-cluster-Brand-New-Never-used-/200498795411?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eaea8d393#ht_500wt_1154
hope this helps

digital clusters can be wound back. there a couple of shonky ways of doing it but one way is to remove the cluster , access the Integrated Circuit ( or EPROM chip ) that stores the km readings , obtain off ebay a piggy back tool that sits across the chip which allows you to "re flash" and re-enter whatever mileage you want it to be. these chips are a common counter device that can be unsoldered and replaced with new.
this is a common but illegal practice in japanese auction houses that enables higher prices for "low klm" exports. known as a "haircut" . the jp govt is trying to stamp out this practice but alas it continues.

There is a way to do everything. From what ive heard they can set you new dash to display kms off replacement dash so it's the same.
