Hey to all. Now im very mechanically minded but sometimes things stump me. tomro i am lowering my car i have the new shocks just picking up the springs tomoro. So i decided today that i was gonna put new balljoints in the lower control arms because ive been getting weird clunking noises whenever i hit the tinyest bump. I first replaced all sway bar bushes and links and it still didnt fix it. tonight i pulled the hub assembly appart and removed the spring clip on the old balljoint and undid the bolt but i cannot get the control arm to seperate from the hub assembly ??? My question is do the new balljoints have to get machine pressed into the control arm socket ???
any advice appreciated.
EDIT** the car is a 1994 ts wagon :)

thats just the one nut straight under the hub yeah? could put the nut back on until its flush with the end of the bolt then give it a few love taps.

yeh i thought of doing that but its the biggest mission. I usually do everything on my car myself but i think ill leave this one alone for now. to fiddly for my hands haha. balljoints seem ok though rubbers are still intact

na not yet. ive had a rough look at the engine mounts and there next on my shopping list.
I just had a nice look at all my suspension and it appears that my sway bar is pretty much sitting on the control arm . I think that may be the cause of this mysterious noise. Its not really a thump its more of a ting which would be explained by the metal on metal. shall replace the sway bar links again

The noise you describe are usualy the strut tops, in a car of that age they would be well due for replacement no doubt

where would be the easiest place to get some new strut tops? Im pretty much going through the entire car and replacing everything :)
