View Full Version : Crankshaft pulley broken

Car had been making a hell of a noise so started removing belts as a part of troubleshooting and problem became evident immediately.
The crankshaft pulley just spins on the shaft and has eaten away part of the sump because it was loose and vibrating.
Doesn't seem like the sump is leaking
Question is how do you replace the pulley?
Can you actually remove it with the engine in situ because there doesn't look like there is room.

you have to undo all the engine mounts

and tip the motor till it has clearence on the passenger side chassis

so the pully slips off the keyway

you need a trolly jack to support the motor while tilting it

to undo the nut you take out the starter motor and
jam something into the flywheel teeth to undo the nut holding the pully on
