I'm re-assembling my TS engine and I need help with where/how some of the parts go. Its been a while and my son in law mechanic who was/is supervising is soooo busy I hate to ask him.
1. How or where does the bracket attach to the head from the rear r/h side of the inlet manifold?
2. I'm not sure if I have another bracket in the right place and the right way around. Its about 100mm long flat bar with an offset bracked that is now attached to the head behind the distributor pointing toward the fire wall and off set to the left. Is this correct and what does it attach to.
3. I have the alternator bolted to the engine with the long bolt at the bottom. What does the other bolt screw into?
I have taken time off wok to finish this and have hit the wall, so if someone could put some photos up that would be a life saver.

Bracket in pic 2 connects to alternator bolt in pic 3. I did this job - heads off, new valves, gaskets, lifters earlier this year. Take the bracket off and rejig so it actually goes to the alternator.
Support in pic 1 attaches to head or block, can't remember which. Get the bolts in before you bolt the manifold down, otherwise they won't line up. I had the bracket off the manifold, still was a difficult job, took many hours. Lots of head scratching, but that's not news I'm sure.
The bottom of the manifold support has an engine stay attached to it. This is a tube with flattened ends that goes to the rear engine mount. You need to move this out of the way so that the support sits against the engine, bolt it down (2 X 12 mm bolts), then move the engine stay back in place and bolt that down (14 mm bolt). Fiddly. Helps to have long arms. I did this part before I manouvered the alternator back in place, too difficult to see what you are doing otherwise. A torch helps too.

I tried to get a camera into that spot on my car to take a picture of the way the brackets are arranged, but no luck, pretty tight in there! lol Hope you sort it!
yeah i spend ages asking supercheap to get me a book in and they kept telling me they could but never seemed able to, best thing about the link is they are the mitsubishi service manuals aswell a hell of a lot better than what you get from your everyday haynes / gregorys manual

Thanks guys, I think I'm on the track thanks to the both of you.
MadMax, thank you I appreciate your efforts.
95ts, the manual is great thanks. I know what you mean about the Gregorys type thing they are very basic, they never seem to cover what I'm looking for.
I'm about to remove the timing belt covers, timing belt and pulley to get to where these brackets need to go.
I hope this doesn't appear twice. I tried to reply and it vanished.

I don't think you need to go that far. If the distributor is off, you should be able to see where the brackets bolt on. There is a large bracket that holds the real idler pulley for the alternator belt, if you remove that off the side of the engine you magically get enough access so that the cam belt and cam pulley can stay on. Its a bit of a jigsaw puzzle back there, good luck.
