Hey Guys n Gurls, i was sleeping today untill my mum started banging on my door :rant: mind you it was 2pm!!! Open the door to hear mum saying "Jono someone just crashed into your car" Well it was true :shock: The guy came around the corner and bam into the back of my car, my towbar took most of it though, pushed the bumper in and scratched the **** outta it, though its not too bad, i think the boot is a bit bent though, it makes a weird noise wen you close it like, the lock isnt aligned properly :confused: Luckily the guy stopped exchanged numbers n all that hope to get it fixed soon! He was driving a Audi though, lol. All his front was smashed in!!

when u get it fixed r u gonna get it the bumbers painted?

Well i think about it, i will prob re spray the bonnet and front right quater pannel as well as these both need new paint

see there is a reason to keep the tow bar on, everyone tells me to take mine off :nuts: , but bad luck, just as well he didnt take off and didnt leave his details

what has bent is a reenforcement (Splling?) bar that has been pushed back.
you got take the bumper out, unbolt 4 bolts in the boot, that actually bolted to the chassis, fix it and put it back.

Towbars are brutal, i sware if you hit someone with one your car will be wrecked and thiers will barely have a scratch lol UNFAIR!

My ol' towbars saved the rear end from late braking drivers twice in the past year.. First time it snapped the front bumper in half of some chics brand new bmw :badgrin: , and it punched a nice hole in a VS commy.
Both with only very minor scratches to the bumper :D

I dont need the towbar, and i know it looks ugly but it is handy to have.. lol
Besides protecting my car its only ever been useful once, pulling a car trailer with my friends ET on it.

But i have knocked my knees on it on several occasions trying to get to the boot!

when i back into my letter box i needed something to kick ... it was the first thing a saw ... :redface: well lets just say i limped away and took it off the next day incase i do it again LOL

They are attached to the chassis, and they might protect your beautiful paint work, but 9 times out of 10 they will cause more damage to the chassis coz the impact is absorbed by it.

Take em off and BURN THEM.

i hav a towbar on my mums magna and it looks alrite cause i hav a show tow ball (its a crome towball) and whenever i wanna tow something we just take it off and put the yuky old one on :D

Imagine how much damage would be caused to the rear end without a towbar if the impact was strong enough to deform the chassis. Towbars (if fitted correcttly) are fitted to the chassis in key points to reduce additional stress on the body. While the damage can be great from a towbar in an accident, most times the accidents are slow speed ones where the towbars come in handy, I keep mine on all the time :D

hey im leaving my towbar on!!! imagine my amps and subs getting crushed :shock: :shock:

only problem with a towball is when some arse reverse parks by reversing until he knows his towball has hit your car. i got my parents old car and i can see where it's happened paint taken off the number plate etc...

who needs reverse park sensers when you have a tow ball :nuts:

someone (also in a Magna) reversed into my Magna. They had a tow-bar and it went through the numberplate into my front bumper (my old bumper). Insurance paid for it... but they ended up replacing the whole bumper coz the little tow ball made so much of a mess... heh

Well my car was parked around the side of my house and he hit it in the rear, then refused to pay the amount i was asking for as he thought it was too high, though i had three quotes all for around the same amount :nuts: So i applied to take it to court, then i get a phone call from him saying he will be counter claiming against me for his damages $2300 worth :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: Wat an idiot!!

Although it didnt reach the court room, as he signed judgment (he signs that i win) on the court forms, so he was just bluffing me to try and scare me?? hes a real loser.

DON'T KNOCK THE CHROME BULLBARS :rant: ......only cos my magna has got one on it and i'm just too lazy to get under the car and take it off...(plus its saved the front off the car when i hit a small gray furry mammal when i was driving lol )

Agreed, tow bars do OWN. Most of you know what happend to me a couple of weeks ago, had to stop at a give way sign to GIVE WAY and a P plater in a hyandai excel hits from behind doing about 20-30, hit me pretty hard, i'm thinking, oh **** there goes my boot etc., got out, not a scratch on my car, good ole tow bar, her car? cuz the excels have such low bonnets it was perfectly in line with my tow bar and :-
Her license plate was snapped into 5 peices, front bumper bar smashed hangingon by a thread, headlights hanging off, punchered radiator(pissing out fluid) bonnet all pushed in and god knows what else.
