Got my eye on a low Km 3rd gen car, but its dedicated factory LPG.

Problems I can see:
(1) 71L tank, at 14.5 L /100 km doesn't give much of a range around town. If I was to drive it from Adelaide to Darwin or Perth, how would I go for fuel?

(2) Tank needs rechecking every 10 years, cost?

Anyone got any experience with a dedicated factory LPG system on the Magna, and care to share thoughts?

Dedicated factory lpg, r u sure? Was that even an option to get dedicated LPG from factory?

My bad just did some research, yes it was an option.............

I got LPG & man if i didn't have petrol as well it would be pain! Range in my case about 450-500, worst thing with lpg is if you run out it, you pretty much stuffed & will need a tow truck. Most of the time i drive on lpg until i start running out & switch to petrol & drive to closest servo to refill......

Well, my uncle has had an E-Gas Falcon for about 6 years now, and he has never had any problems. He's driven it up to Brisbane from Melbourne three times so far without ever running out.

The way I see it, filling up twice a week instead of once is a small inconvenience when you think of the fuel savings. And if there is a station that doesn't sell gas, it shouldn't exist.

Good points. With dual fuel, things are much more flexible. I'd feel safer. Just don't run the petrol tank dry and then use gas, the fuel pump doesn't like it. lol But I assume you know this, Andrei

Had a TW dedicated gas (impco air valve mixer system) & it was great until it was written off in Jan 09. Fuel consumption averaged about 12.5 L/100km in a mix of city/country driving & had it down to 8.9L/100 km on a trip back from Brisbane. It had 2 low fuel level warning lights & when both lights were on continuously for about 2 kms it would set off an audible high pitched alarm that the vehicle was about to run out of fuel. You would need to check fuel availability for long trips as I found that the fuel stops on the east coast of Tassie didn't always have LPG. Not sure of Adelaide to Darwin, you would need to check with the fuel stops as to availability / distance between stations etc. The wife has a dedicated gas TJ and it goes well, fuel consumption is about the same as the TW. I found the trip meter distance to empty function to be inaccurate and wouldn't rely on it. Tank inspection / testing costs about $250-$300as I had the tank from the TW re inspected/tested /fitted to my sons KH as part of the LPG system install.

Cheers
