Hi,
I have just purchased a TL VR 2003 Wagon. I am looking at putting in a double din unit and a response amp - both from jaycar - only because I can get half price. In regards to a speaker system, what do people suggest I run? I dont want a sub at this stage. So thinking splits in the front, leaving the back passenger doors empty and then in the back of a wagon putting in 6 by 9's....Does anyone know if these will fit? Eventually looking at buying an old trim from a wreckers and putting a sub in against the wall of the back, so I can easily take it out when I sell the car. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance

Yeah mate will all fit no problem
How big are the tweeters? Might be worth grabbing some verada tweeter pods for them (these sit behind the side mirrors)
Also didnt know that the rear doors had speakers in them?
Only main thing you need to check is the depth of the speakers, cause im sure you'll need to make up a spacer for the front splits as they will hit the window
Might be worth making some MDF baffle plates will your at it
Are you fitting it yourself or getting a pro to install it?

First of all good choice on using Jaycar better than the mainstream brands in the same price range. When you say you dont want a sub at this stage when will you want one ?
First thing i need to know is do you want to spend alot of time, effort and a bit of money to get this car to a reasonable stage? or are you just going to be someone who thinks slapping a sub and speaker in a car and only spending $500 is "fully sik bro"?
If you want a nice system i would suggest taking the install one thing at a time. First of all fit the headunit, then fit your amp, and then look into a nice set of splits. Dont worry about adding anything else until you are happy with the splits, (eg: make a MDF Baffle for the speaker, seal the service holes and dynamat the doors) and then you will be impressed at what you can get out of a set of speakers. Once all that is done i would then look into getting a sub, and even when you do the sub do some research and build the correct size box, and make the best out of what you have.

Both Mr Roberto and Peaandham make good points.
If you are going to do it stages, might be a good idea to set budgets for each stage. That way you can get the best results for each addition you complete.
Happy to suggest some speakers etc if I know how much you are willing to spend ;)
welcome, if you can get yar gear at half price their is nothing wrong with the jaycar speakers , their are decent for their price from what ive heard of them.

I put a set of 6.5inch Jaycar splits in the gf's car we got them for $70 they retail for $140 i think. I didnt use deadner or any acoustic tiles i just used a MDF spacer and sealant (to seal the mdf to the door) and they are ridiculously good. RMS is 60wrms and they are powered off 2 channels of their 4x50wrms amp, so pairing the Jaycar gear will get you gear at bargain prices.
Hi,

Where exactly do you mean here?? The Tailgate, or one of the Sides?? Either way, I doubt you will have room behind there, and if you are looking at the Tailgate, the Sub will Probably prevent the tailgate staying up due to the Weight!!
The best option is either a Box in the Back, or even a small Sub that will fit under one of the Front Seats...
Have Fun!!

Do the Panels in a wagon come out easily ??
Would looking at an Outlander Style Subwoofer set up work in a Wagon ??

It might be something to consider instead of the 6x9 option..
