Hi
Just acquired a TJ MY02 Limited Edition (Series 1.5)?
Flew to melbourne last night and drove it back to Adelaide.
I'm gathering it is that because it has
Analog odometer
Trip computer in the middle
Climate control
Sunroof

Anyways heres a few questions i'd like to ask.

How much would it cost to install a transmission cooler? Anyone know of any places in adelaide that do this?

Can a centre console of a TL (with climate control ) fit a TJ

Is there any way to turn the fog lights off? I've noticed some trucks highbeaming me while my highbeams weren't on! but damn the lights are nice and bright!!

How can u tell if the auto tranny is failing? It seems smooth enough but it jolted lightly twice the 800km i did today.. not sure what i did.

i averaged about 10l/100KM on the highway, i thought it would be about 8.. am i using too much fuel?

Should i pour in 98 ? or regular unleaded?

Anyone done a REAR battery install?

The cars done 132,000km's but the fellla claimed its all highway K's and the paint is in pretty much showroom condition. How much should the price be? i think i got it pretty cheap.

Thanks for all the help.

Fog light switch is on the headlamp / sidelamp stalk. Rotary section just in from the end.

Welcome to the club mate! Nice choice of car there.

With the centre console, it can be done I guess but will certainly need rewiring done.

Fuel consumption is a tad high for a run, mine is around low 7's. Maybe it needs a good service. Check the history and replace worn/old items.

With the gearbox flaring, it might just need a good flush and refill with new oil. This usually resolves flaring. Not too costly to get someone to flush and refill, there are also guides on the net for DIY. I would link for u but I'm on iPhone haha

Couple of other things, mine runs much smoother on 98 fuel and also better economy. No chance of increased performance though as the 3rd gen magnas don't have a knock sensor.

Battery relocation is pretty simple, just got to run some thick gauge cable to the back, just be wary of any audio cables that are also running back up the car otherwise you might get interference over the stereo.

Tranny coolers are popular amongst the auto lot, a second hand cooler can be nicked off a wrecked 2nd gen v6 IIRC, there are some technical threads on this forum about how to plumb it up

Mine sit on 10L/100km on average, check the tyre pressures, sometimes even something as small as that can have a small effect on your fuel consumption. And yea cyber is right about the TL console, I wanted to do it a while back but apparently theres a fair amount of wiring that needs to be done so I didn't bother.

As for 98, I never use it. The car can't tell the difference so I just put what ever is cheapest in with the exception of E10.

Question though, why would you want a rear battery install?

No rewiring is needed for use the TL Climate control in the TJ. From experiance. Same plug.

If you have climate in a TJ already, is plug and play, several have done it already

Over 4,000 VR-X's were built in the TJ run. Around 65,000 TJ's were built overall. The TJ is the most common 3rd gen model followed by the nearly 60,000 TF's which were built from April 1997 up to December 1998.

The limited edition leather pack VR-X from June 2001 is not MY 02. That model didn't have climate control. 400 were built. The MY02 was introduced shortly after and added 17x7 rims and climate control.

I have never heard of a MY 02 limited edition before? - But your car is definitely MY 02 by your description.

The only differences between MY 02 VR-X and Series 2 VR-X is the digital odometer and relocated trip computer (where the odometer is). 50 series 2 VR-X Magnas were painted in (Wasp) Yellow. Although I did once come across a series 2 VR-X in Pewter Silver with a black leather interior once.

Yea!
I'm beginning to think this isn't a limited edition model as listed, because it doesn't have the leather seats. But thats ok because i didn't want the leather seats, just the sunroof and climate control.
Well, originally this VR-X was from Brisbane, then Melbourne, now its back in Adelaide where its home is.
