Hey guys,
Having a look at a neat 95 ks xi verada tomorrow, 195k without timing belt and major done.
What should I be looking out for?
I am not extremely mechanically savvy but anything I can look for would be helpful....
I will be checking the oil for cloudy or blueness, checking for smoke from the exhaust, checking the braking, checking the gears to make sure they all change well and most importantly making sure it starts and take load well.
Any additions or picture would be handy,
Cheers
Tires - tread left and evenly wearing, suspension, brakes (how much pad left) and if its the one im thinking of it looks nice and shiny.

signs of oil leak that has been cleaned... noisy CV at full steering lock... lifter noise... auto shifts smoothly

Make sure you let it sit idling for a while before giving a blip on the accelerator, to check the condition of the valve stem seals. Looking at $400-odd to get 'em replaced if bad (hours, not materials)

Had a look today, looks very very very clean. Ran very well too.
Couldnt come up with the $2750 he wanted for it, someone from vic is going down tomorrow to have a look (and im assuming buy it).... maybe you are someone on these forums? :O
Anyway if that deal falls through he said I could pick it up for $2500, which I might do. Otherwise, looks like im sticking with my mechanically good but bland TS magna :P Dont really have the effort to veradify it >.<

Is this the one you looked at? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mitsubishi-Verada-1995-XI-/220646764792?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Cars&hash=item335f9270f8
It sounds like they are getting booted out of the country and are desperate to sell by tuesday according to the comments at the bottom. Offer them 1.5k on monday night if its not sold lol still more than the $1225 the ebay auction got to.
