Hi, I just bought a '98 Magna Exe. TF. I was wondering how i could disable the speed alert beep, I know holding down both buttons will turn it off and leave the display showing - - but it will reset to 60kmph every time i restart the car.
Does anyone know how this is done?
Thanks :D

it should not reset everytime you start the car....
as you said holding the two buttons will disable it... until you turn it back on or the computer is reset (batt disconnect)
maybe you have a lose wire that is not giving the trip comp power when the car is off...

Generally, the speed alarm will reset if the battery has been disconnected (this is also the method to reset the ECU). So check that your battery terminals are nice and tight and that the battery is in good health. It should remain at - - or the desired set speed unless the battery is disconnected, so definitely check your connections :)

+1 to that, it shouldn't reset just from turning the car on/off.
Do you lose any other settings (namely your headunit settings) every time you restart the car? If it's only the speed alert you're losing, I'd be inclined to think it was something other than battery (although I could very well be wrong).

If you are losing settings, check the fuse in the engine bay box surrounded by the yellow cover, another tell tale is your interior light not working

The Yellow Surround/Cover in the Engine bay Fuse Box doesn't need to come OFF, it just needs to be lifted upwards until it "clicks" up - this allows the clamps to release the two fuses inside it.
takes a surprising amount of effort to make it lift up, and it doesn't come up far - but when grasping the yellow bit and it makes a definite "click", getting those fuses out will be a doodle instead of a nightmare........
Oh, and once you have checked/replaced those fuses - make sure you press down on the Yellow surround to re-engage those fuses too............

your not wrong i consider myself to be fairly strong and i gave up cause i thought i was going to break it, i ended up using a stanley blade and cut each corner of the internal top clip took 10 seconds..
