Ok, so perhaps the people who know 6g74 engines will be able to help me.

My KH (3.5 V6 Auto) is going to be a getting a pretty thourough service soon. I would very much like to do it myself.

The issue is, the previous oil change failed to fix the grumble the engine has off idle. Basically at all temps, the engine grumbles a bit but becomes normal smoothness above 1600rpm-ish. The grumble cannot be felt, but it is herd. It is especially noticable when cold.

The car has done 165,000klms. It has recently had all the top of the motor oil seals done, a new fuel filter was put on, and the O2 sensor was replaced. Also, a new exhaust save for the rear muffler was done 5000 klms ago and the oil was changed about then as well.

I don't want to take it to my local Mitsu dealer. They have a fantasticaly bad history with servicing my cars (although the parts people are champions).

I just need to know what to look for to make this grumble off idle go away. It sounds crap.

Cheers for any help.

Mike

The grumble sound is a loose A/C belt which is the same one as the alternator. Tighten her up and the grumble will go.
They like being fairly tight and the belts do stretch so if its fully tightened already then may need a new belt.
Will try and dig up the diagram that shows you how to tighten it.
