View Full Version : quietest tyres for TW wagon?

our TW wagon has about 70k on the clock and will in the not-too-distant future need new tyres. The standard b'stone RE92s seem OK for my sort of driving and have lasted well. However I wouldn't mind if the replacements had a tad more grip, the same long life, and most important, are quiet.

Any thoughts anyone, on quiet tyres?

I'm thinking the b'stone Turanza ER300.

If you want quiet go for 60 profile with lots of straight circumference tread rib lines rather than V pattern and stable tread blocks (ie less like rally Mud & Snow (MS) tyres). This should also increase mileage compared to sport tyres. Most tyre brands have quiter models but again like everything - its compromises in other chracteristics that achieve the desired results. A very good compromise but a tad expensive are Yokohama AVS range tyres but their luxury car 'comfort' models not the HP ones. They still have lots of grip and performance capability.

Definitely, yes, the Yokohama Aspec db (DeciBel) range is definitely quiet, BUT -- if it is a front-wheel-drive Magna V6, wheelspin will be an issue.

The old Yokohamas were the A500, but now it has been replaced by a newer model.

Also, try the Toyo TEO-PLUS, very quiet and not bad grip at all too

Hey there mate. The Bridgstone Turanza ER300's is a great choice. Would highly recommend them.
I had them on my KJ AWD and got 60,000 out of them which is massive for an AWD. Also, tyres gripped very well and were quiet from the day i got them right down to the tread wear indicators.
Some tyres tend to get very noisy when they wear dowen even as lottle as half way.
I have replaced the ER300's recently with the Potenza Adrenalin RE001's. More grip than the ER300's and also quiet but i am expecting no hwere near 60,000 out of them. Time will tell.
The ER300's are a perfect tyre for your car mate.

Has anyone any experience with Toyo tyres? Their "teo" has very good reviews esp. for quietness, which is what I want.

i have had T1R's and they arent too bad, but they are also about 5 models up so hardly comparable. Grip[ was good, noise was low because they are so soft

I've found the Toyo Teo Plus tyres to be very good. nice and grippy and very quiet also, they should last quite a while also from what i've heard.

I am running Nexens (classe). I asked for something quite and was decent in the wet and they have proven to be so. Don't know about mileage - think they'll be alright though.
