my pintara use to smoke like urs, heavy throttle = lotsa smoke... just changed all the filters and that solved the problem, fuel filter prolly being hte one youll wanna do first.

what colour smoke? white, black, blue??

I'll take a guess here that it's prolly dark grey/black smoke which (i think) is un burnt fuel,(wheras white smoke is sign of an oil leak).

I'd start by checking the spark plugs, and probably not a bad idea to renew the air and fuel filters if they've been on there a while. If problems persist - see a mechanic, you could probably do with a tune to adjust your fuel mapping type stuff.

good luck.

its probably running rich, like most magnas do.

Yeah I would suggest its running rich, get someone to drive it for you and drive behind it.

If its black smoke then its running rich.

If its blue / grey then your buring oil.

i didnt exactly get anyone to drive it but i floored it up the street and my dad reckons he didnt see anything but thats cause he doesnt want me to spend money on it i cant really make out the coulor being night and all but i stood outside the car and gave it a full throttle rev bout 5000 and black smoke came out the back not much but im sure more noticable at night so what do you people think is the fuel filter hard to change on a tp magna i know that you have to depressurise the fuel system any other suggestions air filter is fine please let me know any ideas i wanna get a 2.25 inch exhaust and thats it for the mods since it has high ks but i wanna take care of smoke first

I don't think the fuel filter has anything to do with the car running rich, i could be wrong though...

If your car is running rich its simply getting too much fuel, is it EFI or Carby?

A blocked fuel filter usually means a car will run lean.

 This Penrite is too heavy ,try any semi-syntetic, and Nulon will kill you engine. Also check valve clearance. What I think.

well im probably gonna go down to 20-50 once im sure the oil usage has stopped probably in a month or so i was going up a hill and i put my foot down to 4500 revs and there was no smoke going at bout 60 whats with that only taking off after the car has stopp-ed at lights or something like that is the fuel filter easy to change it wouldnt supprise me if that filter had been on the car its whole life is there a way to check the filter

are you talkin about a puff of black smoke out the back or continuos black smoke? if its just a puff - all cars do that for some reason... i think its unburnt fuel or oil...

continues till you ease of the throttle or get into gear 3

actually its more of a quick discharge till you get up your speed only if you have your foot down or if you go up a hill
