View Full Version : CD stacker wont eject
I have a 99 KH verada with the CD stacker under the pass. seat, the sliding doors busted off (still have the bits, may be able to get it back on), and when I push eject, there is a few whirrs and clicks, but the cartridge won't pop out. It wont play CD's after this, until you push on the front of the cartridge, then there is a click and it registers it as back in.
Has anyone had this problem before or got any advice? Is there another button somewhere and am I just doing it wrong? And can I simply unbolt and unplug it to have a better look or does it have a security code if the power is cut or a non-unpluggable end under the seat?
TL : DR- CD stacker cartridge ejects, but doesn't come out far enough to pull out. Also, can I unplug it?

Yes you can unplug it. It is only 2 bolts (8mm socket from memory) and 2 screws. There is no other button If can come out and remained plugged in for a bit for you to play. I have disassembled one before to get the cartridge out. There are many little screws. something is probably jammed in there.

After 11 years of living under the front seat, its probably time it got cleaned out. Lancer with CD stackers have them in the boot, bolted to the underside of the parcel shelf. Much better idea. Why not junk the whole system, if it isn't repairable, and get a MP3 capable head unit? My pioneer has 1 CD in it of 17 albums. much more useful than a CD stacker! Get one with AUX in and you can plug in an iPod too.
to the OP, pretty sure I have the factory Clarion 6 cd stacker that is mounted in the boot, it even has the brackets for mounting. It worked just fine when i pulled it out. Also comes with the cable that runs the length of the car and plugs into the back of the standard head unit

KE-F Eurovox 10 CD stacker in the boot (mounted to the right hand side on its own bracket) XI only
KH Eurovox 6 CD stacker under the passenger seat - same headunit - Its possible the later ones could have been clarion too
KJ - 4 CD stacker in dash. Connected to a single DIN HU
KL all in one 6 CD Unit Fujitsu I think
Some of the special edition cars came with a normal HU and a stacker as well. These are usually 10 or 6 discs.
I'm saving up for new stereo all round, but double din screens are expensive and I'd want to do it right first time. The factory unit sounds alright for now, apart from a crackle in one of the front speakers, either dash or tweeter, and if I can get the CD working properly it will do for a while until I do an install. Might go out and get it out the car tonight, depending how long it takes to go through most of the whats new section.
This information might be a few weeks late, but just in case the OP is still trying to get the cartridge out ...
There's always a manual release mechanism.
Look for a small hole, which you can push a straightened paper clip through and release the catch.
The cartridge should be released with a click.
Similar to the manual release mechanisms you see on the front of a CD/DVD drive on your PC.
I can get it, but I have to unbolt the stacker and hold it so the cartridge falls out a cm or so and I can grab it. It ejects but doesn't move foward at all? And a little push and you can hear it click and it will play again... Ive had the case off and put a little bit of oil on all the slides I could see and still nothing.

Have you tried hooking it with something and dragging it out?
I don't mean break it, but just in case it's jammed in with some dirt or the plastic has warped.
Other than that, it may be a trip to a specialist installer/repairer.
Sorry mate.
I still have a stock 6disc changer and cable sitting at home if all else fails
Ive been thinking of glueing a little handle to the front of the cartridge seeing as the door doesnt really shut over it either... But for the moment the CDs already in it are fine. Saving up for a proper install rather than the budget-buy everything jumble in the TR that is louder but sounds worse than the stock verada system.

my series 1 TJ LE had a clarion 6 stacker mounted in the boot with the single disc up front, but ended up changing it because of the fact that the right channels had died on the HU.....the 6 stacker lives on, connected to a clarion tape deck in my garage.

For the underseat setup? How much would postage to 5126 be, or are you coming to MMX or know someone who is? I'll pay a little bit more than just postage if you want to send it over.

think it will be about $20 to post as it is not too heavy so $25 should be OK as I don't think I will use it again as I have an Alpine system with MP3 stacker, and Ipod dock.
PM me please re adress etc and I will forward bank details.
Cheers,
HK
