hey guys.
when i did the timing chain i aslo replaced the clutch. when releasing the clutch the point in which the clutch engages is very close to the floor. the clutch also gets really hard close to the floor. is there a way to adjust this?
have tried to adjust according to the gregorys but that seem to adjust clutch pedal hieght and nothing else.
cheers

You won't like this, but I did the same, and ended up with the same problem. Had to pull the box off to fix the problem. Do a search, or ask for more details.
(I have a 2.6L TS manual and I'm assuming the first and second gen clutches are identical.)
Did you have an information shhet with the new clutch telling you what to check? Which bits did you change?

if the clutch master and slave are in good condition
dont know :hmm:
one member found the rod was bent behind the master cyl
other thought would be the clutch fork and thrust bearing

nope, its wear on the pivot ball and lever that needs compensating with one or 2 washers under the pivot ball. This was written on a sheet that came with my clutch kit, but it didn't make any sense, so ignored it. Once I worked out why the clutch was all acting wrong, I had to pull the box off again, with 2 2mm washers under the ball everything lined up again.

Sounds like that's the problem madmax. Cheers for that. My clutch may have had instuctions I can't remember now but I definately didn't read anything about that
If 1st gen clutches are hydro it may be a dead master or slave cyl. When Mal was doing my conversion the slave was leaking and it caused the clutch release point to drop to the floor.

first and second gen are both hydraulically operated. OP, if you pull the slave cylinder off, then remove the rubber cover off the lever, then have a look where it sits. It should be in the middle of the window, with the slack removed by hand. I needed 2 washers 2mm thick each (just the normal split washer) to lift the ball away from the gearbox for the lever to sit in the right place.
My clutch kit was bought from ringwood auto parts via eBay for about $150. It came with a very brief instruction sheet about using a shim. Didn't explain why, so I ignored it.lol

Still the same price, if anyone is interested in a TR/TS 2.6L clutch kit. Not bad price, seeing I bought one 5 years ago, when I first got the car, figuring I would need it eventually. Put it in last year.
First gen kit is cheaper at $139
