Hi there. Someone tried to break in to the boot of our TR (I think) Magna, so the boot lock doesn't work with the key - that's ok been opening it with the knob next to the driver's seat.
That was until the other day. The boot wouldn't close, so I clicked the little white lock button. Boot closed fine and I was happy - until I went to open it and nothing happens.
I can see the lock mechanism through the opening in the back seat, but can't work out how to open the thing. Any ideas?

oops!
Use a large drill to drill out the centre of the lock. Remove it without damaging the boot lid, then use a piece of wire to grab and pull on the release rod. Get another lock and key from the wreckers.

Um that a pain you might need to crawl in the boot and pull it a part lol Sound like a broken cable or the locking is stuff :)

Using the right key? Manual says something about only the 'master' key will open it in lock mode..

the white switch/catch is to prevent people who are lent the car or valet opening the boot with the cable release... cable is fine I made this same mistake with mine and found out I had 2 copies of the valet key and no master. Off the top op my head as I can't fit through my back seat opening to work out a method will be to drill the lock out as previously suggested... Good Luck

Poke it with a stick. Can you get a broom handle through and un-flick the tab so it opens with the lever again? If the end of the broom handle is too clumsy try using a lot of tape to hold a fork or something on the end?

Start spraying lots of CRC or WD40 into the lock and try the key again. Or take the car to a locksmith who can open it for you.

To the OP: Its now 2 weeks after your original post and I'm sure the problem is solved by now. Be polite and let us know how (if) you have solved the problem. You never now, some of us might learn something! lol
