Got the KJ Verada Xi and a Pioneer DEH-4250SD (http://www.pioneer.com.au/en/Products/Car%20Entertainment/CD%20DVD%20Players/DEH%204250SD.aspx) Note - NO Amp

Got it all wired & music coming out ok, but not sure about a couple of things.

The Pioneer only has 1 wire left over - Blue - labelled "System Remote Control".

------------------------------------------

From EuRoZac's post/description here (#1) (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32761)

16 Pin (numbered looking at the loom, left to right, top row first)

6. Pink --> Auto Antenna --> Blue **

** Some H/U have Remote On (Blue/White) and Power Ant (Blue). If you connect Blue, the antenna will be up when listening to tuner only. If you connect Blue/White, it will be up when the stereo is on. Don't connect your amp to the Blue on your new H/U, use Blue/White. Otherwise this will turn your amp on only when listening to the tuner!

and

8 Pin (numbered looking at the loom, left to right, top row first)

(Primary colour is the fist, the second is the stripe)
1. (No connection/pin)
2. Blue --> Radio Mute (Phone Connector)
3. (No connection/pin)
4. (No connection/pin)
5. (No connection/pin)
6. Light Green and Black --> Remote Control ** (Where fitted on Verada XI Steering Wheel)
7. (No connection/pin)
8. (No connection/pin)

But I have a Blue & a Green/white (stripe)
I'm guessing these will still follow the above description?

------------------------------------------

So...

Off the HU, Remote Control is blue. That would go to the KJ's Green/White?
But how to I hook up the power aerial to the HU?

Cheers :)

Do not connect the blue pioneer wire to the green/ white wire.Green/ white wire is the tail lights. So that green/ white wire will have 12v when the lights are on :D

The verada blue wire is for the steering wheel buttons it may work, not sure:)

Hope this help you out :)

The system remote will operate your Electric Aerial if fitted, if not, leave it disconnected and insulated. ( not sure what color) Now looking Its the Blue one in the car.....Source (http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Mitsubishi-Wiring.pdf)
If you have an electric aerial. and its connected, it will go up even when you listen to CD.
I put a switch in mine, I rarely use FM, so my aerial is always down by choice. USB, CD and DAB+ are my regular sources.

If it is like my old Pioneer units that I have had, they only have 1 Blue wire which needs to be used to activate external amp(s) and or turn on the power aerial ( makes it go up ).

It sends a signal to the amp or power antenna when you turn on the deck. That way you don't drain the battery.

So...Green/White I understand. Obviously for dimming/brightening HU light @ night.

Am I reading it right here?
The factory 'Pink' wire - as per 1st post...1st quote - isn't needed. And the 'Blue' wire of the HU goes to factory 'Blue' wire, & this will BOTH enable the steering wheel remote + the powered aerial?

CORRECTION - In that pic below, I have the Pink wire coming off the top plug...it should be Blue, & the pink wire coming from the bottom plug

Pioneer blue wire goes to pink wire. Not sure if it pioneer blue wire will work with the steering wheel buttons. You could try it out :)

Thinking about a bit more in the pioneer manual it will tell you. But from my two pioneer radio the blue wire just work the power antenna.

Pioneer Blue wire WILL NOT work with the factory steering wheel remote.

( I have a pioneer AVH DVD in my KH)

With pioneer, the antenna will go up when the HU is on. regardless of if the tuner is on or not. The pink wire is the antenna signal wire.

The early KJs would have had the wiring from the Half height feature deleted from the KJ HU (it was in the KH)

The Green/white wire is this half height wire. Ignore it if you just want to connect the antenna.

In my car, I have a switch in the coin holder to control the antenna independent from the HU. I have full height/off/half. I have a pic of this in my members ride thread thing and i remember a thread on how to wire it from ages ago.
