It all started the day of my last service. I had tried to use a service key in the ignition of my TJ advance and the the car would cut out almost immediatley. I started it with the key I normally use, took it to the service and left them a key. Short while later i got a call that they could not start the vehicle. Went to where the vehicle was being serviced and started it with my key. needless to say I think i have a couple of dodgy keys.
Got the vehicle back and the next day went out to start it. The car used to start first time every time. It now fired ran very breifly (kicked over) then cut out. A second turn of the key would start the vehicle. If I gave the pedal a very slight pump the car would run first time.
Too much pedal flooded it. I believe that the car started second time either due to the carby being primed or the computer compensating, could it be that the car is running too lean? at initial startup?
I believe the key issue is a sepaerate problem. Feedback welcome.

For starters, you do not have a carby and a computer, you have efi, the only reason you will flood is if an injector has been jammed open and then you will really know about it

What you have sounds like classic battery issue, the voltage on the initial start up drops below 10.5, the ig relay cuts and engine stalls, you restart and it survives and car runs

Thanks MM battery died last night and having replaced it, the symptoms I described have disappeared.
