View Full Version : Question about my rear brakes

I am at a point now where I don't want to modify the car any more than it is, but just improve what I already have. I have a fair bit lined up such as new bootlid from mal, and re-doing the roof lining as its sagging.

Now, rear brakes have always looked shite compared to my front AWD set up with the DBA 4000 slotted rotors. Is it worth me getting some DBA slotted on the rear and decent pads? (QFM probably) DBA don't do the 4000 series rotors for the rear in slotted probably because they aren't vented so would probably stick with their street series.

Would I see any sort of improvement in braking? My current rear brakes are Bendix GCT's and pretty shoddy looking standard rotors...

You would not see any improvement in braking. Your front setup would only see a decent workout on the track, besides that on the street you'll hardly ever push them to there limits. The rears...just stick with some machined or new rotors (dont bother with slotteds in the rear) and some decent pads and fresh fluid. S/S lines aswell.

Just go the std rotors, RDA are fine, use the QFM and you will have done about all you can do

While the rears are important, they do not do much of the stopping, RDA do make a Gold type rotor for the rears but hardly worth spending that much money on them to be honest

If you are after rotors and pads, I could send them up with the boot lid

I would like slotted on the the rear mainly for aesthetics as I think it looks a bit odd having them only on the front. Mal, I noticed you do RDA rears slotted for $185 and then $75 for the pads. The only reason I was asking about performance was because a few members on here who have done an AWD rear conversion have commented on a big improvement in braking power. Paul, I have braided lines on the front only...

I should be getting my tax into my account tomorrow so i will let you know about whether I want them on top of the bootlid as well.

Thanks guys!
