I've got the model number: MR489997 for a gear stick cloth, but is there any other one that you guys would recommend. I'm not looking to spend more than 30 bucks. Its a TF.

Cheers.

Hey mate, I know you said you didn't want to spend more than $30, but I just ordered a gear boot for my tf from a guy on eBay called topgaiters or something for $45. Haven't got it yet but it's supposed to be 100% leather and the guy has got 100% feedback on eBay so should be good. (I custom ordered black with red stitching :D)
I bought a genuine one from mits about a year ago and I can say they are really
shit! They aren't real leather and they start flaking after just a few months of use!! Your better off spending more on quality and so you dont have to replace it in a few months...

Hmmm ok, so the mitsubishi one is out, thanks for that.
Can't wait to hear how your new one goes when you get it. Please keep me posted :)

$60 got me a custom made black with leather stitching out of seating leather so it will last for ages. I got sick of replacing the garbage factory Mitsi ones.

Auto Parts stores sell "generic" leather gearstick boots, often in several styles and colours.

I found a red leather/perforated red leather one reduced at Super Cheap for about $20-00, and as I have the red/black Ralliart steering wheel in one car I thought I'd try out the SCA jobbie.
The OEM vinyl gear boot has a plastic frame which screws to underside of the console panel, and also has a rubber/plastic bush at the top which ensures the boot fits snugly up to the gearknob.

I found it quite easy to adapt the specialised OEM parts - the plastic frame at the bottom and the rubber/plastic bush at the top - onto the cheapo leather boot. A cable tie is needed to secure the leather around the top bush, and in my case the base of the leather boot was elasticised, so it fitted snugly to the frame which screws under the console panel. Very pleased with the result.

Got my gear boot today!! Only took like 3 days to get here from UK plus it had custom red stitching!
Leather is a little thinner than I expected, but it definately looks much better than the old stock one!!! (See pic for comparison!!)
