Hey guys,

I'm new to the forums. We own two Magnas, a 93' TS Wagon V6 and an 98' TF Sedan V6.

The TF has been giving us a little grief lately! After a spirited/extended drive, you turn the car off, and for some reason, it will not start. The motor will turn over at full speed, but will not fire for some reason.

Has anyone else had similar issues? It seems to be an intermittent problem, but it tends to happen when you don't want it to happen. Hahaha.

Any input would be terrific guys.

Cheers!

Chris.

Dunno if it's related, but our landrover used to do this, even used to stall when to hot and then wouldn't start, turned out to be a dodgy crank angle sensor...

Rory is spot on.
I would almost bet my dog on it being the CAS. Though it could also be any number of electrical components.
Have you checked to see if it pops out any error codes when it wont start?

most common problem per what you described is the immobiliser plug on igntion barrel coming loose, its a common problem, do you have a engine check light come on when it happens?

i'm pretty sure the crank angle sensor will not bring up a fault code if its faulty.
do you know if the engine has spark when its hot?

Well guys, thanks for the info.

I acctually have no idea where the ECU acctually is, or how to check the codes. I thought the ECU is in the left hand foot well.

ECU is under the dash, in the centre. If you look towards the centre from the drivers footwell you will see it (and all the wires going to it).

CAS is usually the issue on hot starts (failing to start).

if you are new to error codes , purchase the Gregory's no 272 Magna workshop manual , it explains in there how to find codes and where everything is.

Or, if you need assistance translating the fault codes I have a full list and also the procedure to extract them from the Mitsubishi manual. If you like I can email them through.
Also, Magwheels is correct. More often than not the CAS wont log a code, but it IS just a matter of checking for spark when the engine fails to fire when hot.
