As some of you may recall ,im slowly, and cheaply..lol building up the sound system on my 380 GT.

I have a four channel amp powering rear 6 x 9 and a sub off high /low converters,works well,bass pumps,all happy.

So ,now ,obviously the next step is to upgrade the fronts, i have a set of Eclipse splits, and will get a 2 channel amp and mount it next to the four channel...

now the question is this...??

When i tap/cut into the front speaker wires to take the signal back to the rear to the amp,

1. Do i just take speaker cables front to back and back to front again, hooking up to the converter next to the amp...

2.or do i run RCA cables from the front to the rear ,after hooking into the converter up the front.

3.When i do run the wires, whatever combination, can i run them together in the same "loom" as it were..??

thanks

Michael

depends where you want to put the line level converter i guess. no matter what you will need at least 1 set of speaker wires running form the amp to the speakers, but whether you put the converter up front and run rca's back or run speaker wires back and converter nearer the amp is your call. Personally I would run wires back and put the converter, as the higher voltage of the speaker wires is much less susceptible to introducing line noise into a system, so the shorter the rca run the better.

by same loom, im not sure what you are referring to, if you mean have both runs beside each other to the boot, this is fine, if you mean splicing the wires from the head unit back, this is also fine. If you mean tapping into the existing wires that run into the doors, this is also, also fine.

thanks for that..probably cheaper too to run four lots of speaker cable than two lines of rca any way..

..and what i meant by the same loom ,was, can the wires i take from the front to the back, wrap together with the wires i bring back to the front...

Keep your RCA length down as best you can. Minimises issues with interference.

Yep, No issues at all in doing so PROVIDED You purchase high quality, shielded RCA's. We've used home audio (unshielded) RCA's in my mates car once for a quick dodge and my god, the alternator whine lol.
