Now everyone on amc... please help me with this. as some of you know, i've got a turbo set up on my TH magna.. 3.5 litre SOHC (single over head cam) seems this is my third motor i've destoryed, i think its time to get a loan and just finish this engine off...
the idea is to make this as strong as possible.. as i'll be running a 100hp shot of nitrous on top of the 20+ psi of boost, well i'm hoping too.. but this is not for the turbo thats on loud1 at the moment, which is the gt35r... hyperdrive want to go two sizes up ? i dont know if that changes much?
so forged piston rons etc
Can i get a stronger crack... is blueprinting and balancing worth it..
oil pump upgrades...?
CAM grind for a turbo.. high stage,
what compression? should i use a coper head gasket.
what litre manifold do i need for 600-700 hp
Vavle springs, port in the head and polishing
throttle bpdy sizing...
pretty much the whole lot... i just want this to never happen again.. Please i'm begging for help.
be great to know bands etc

No point upgrading your engine, no such thing as a "bullet proof" engine if it makes you just crank up the boost and shoot nitrous oxide down its throat until it pukes.
Why not join a drag racing team, get your kicks that way, and wind the boost on your daily drive back to something sane, and dump the nitrous?
Just an idea.

Contact EGO or ring street torque in NT they seemed to have done a few bullet proof engines... except for Booyas which burnt down but I dont believe that was their fault. But shit sone, Ego is getting 633hp..... lol

Be prepared to spend a lot of coin for a reliable engine...
And "bulletproof" is a term that is open to interpretation.

As I said in your other thread, talk to Jason (Ego) :)

Spot on.. Well it wasnt Street Torques Fault. With Booya it was a Standard magna fly wheel that fell apart.. Rule of thumb when moding magna, when you get serious change the fly wheel.
Also the next question is what is your budget..??? the term bullet proof can mean anything from $20-$100K.. You need to be clear.. A very good motor will cost you near $20k and its all up to you now and what you want to spend.?

i found a site selling 6g74 turbo forged pistons but i cant remember the site
spool sells forged rods for $800 ment to handle 700hp

LOUD1 - what is your aim? It's all in the tune. I've seen 3000GT's on stock engines (100% stock) with tiny 9b TD04 turbos run a 10.95 (from 3si.org) And all he is running is an upgraded fuel and engine management system.
No use spending $30K.....personally....it'll just be a dyno queen.

You might want to look at getting the crowns of your pistons ceramic coated; it can protect against damage caused by pinging, especially if the motor leans out while on nitrous. It might also be worth looking into getting parts magnafluxed, to look for cracks or defects that aren't normally visible. How have your previous motors failed?

big end... whe n it was on nitrous 150shoot , big end i think when it was running 15psi on a dyno and a piston because i used the wrong fuel.. (epic fail ) good advice, thanks

yeah not after a dyno queen.. i dont want a turbo that hits six half grand just to hit some boost,.. do they have any putting out a nice 600-700hp driveable? as i found a place that build autos to handle 900+hp in the states.. so if i build a engine that can handle 900+ and onkly run 600 to 700hp on the track and 350-400 on the road... then i'll be more then happy with that?

As much as it sucks, join up to 3si.org and have a read. Literally every 2nd member spends $30K+ on there car's and they are always doing something different.
I think the norm is the 3L with the TD04 DR750's
But if you want to be differet....there are guys running 3.5L's with 3.8L internals with a mix of SOHC and DOHC MIVEC heads TT'd.
It will really open your eyes to what is out there.
At a minimum you'd want balanced internals. Forged pistons and rods, good set of cams will help but not needed. They have pushed 800HP from a STOCK engine, just boosted to 30psi. It can be done. Even start a thread, gather opinions. But you can get alot of bang for your buck by spending money in the right areas.

So can anyone definitely confirm these pistons will fit the SOHC 6G74?

Well I'm sure set of pistons from a us 74 will fit after a 6g74 is the same on the in side

Yer i know what your saying but these pistons could be designed for a DOHC head so compression may work out to be different once installed with SOHC heads.

Do your research find out want different between the two or note in a email to them saying u have a sohc motor

All I have to say is, keep in mind these figures being thrown around about American cars making 800hp etc, take them with a grain of salt. American dyno numbers are extremely inflated. For example, Americans think a stock Evo 9 turbo will do 350-400whp (260 - 300kwatw) Australian dynos will read anywhere from 200-220kwatw MAX on the Evo 9 turbo. Same goes for the Evo 10, max you will get out of the stock turbo is around 220, MAYBE 225kwatw with the correct supporting mods. The turbos just don't make more power than that, but the Americans seem to think they do. So keep that in mind.
