hi guys,
I have an 03 xi verada with 6 stacker audio system... I hate it!
I would like to replace it with a touch screen if possible and support for my iphone/ipod (perhaps bluetooth?)
is there anything that fits in the space nicely or are mods going to be necessary? also I do not want to upgrade speakers at this time.
any help would be appreciated (oh and I am on a reasonably tight budget!)
thanks,
Sergio

Hi and welcome. Seeing you are in SA, if you live in metro Adelaide try and get to a meet (every 2nd wednesday, Firle Shopping Centre, Glynburn Rd next one is the 8th) and you will be able ot stick your heads in ppl's cars and see what they have done audio wise. I know Hyper has a double din touchscreen in his, not sure about the iphone/ipod side of things, though he can illuminate :)
Yes there are setups that will fit in your dash, you just need to work out if you want to keep the overall size (double din in Verada's) or cut back to a single din size, though from the touch screen comment, I would say you want double din.

for a touch screen stereo? anywhere from $300 (Asian eBay special :)) to $1000 seems to be the norm. I can't really comment on brand vs brand as I never put one in my car and if I did it would probably have been an eBay special since I can't really justify much more than $300 for a head unit to myself.
I wouldn't pay to get it fitted, enough people here have fitted stereos to their cars that you should be able to find some volunteers, especially if you get more active off the forums

I am a car audio idiot :( it's the first time I've looked into it and don't want to get ripped off, I like to be informed before I buy :)
