Probably ask a panel beater. If it fits dimensionally it shouldnt be a problem, BUT it might be a pain in the ass job and they'll try and take you to the cleaners. I cant see it being that difficult at all - although i know nothing about panel beating.

Hmm.....I can see it being a massive pain in the ass! Do you have the inner roof lining to match with it?
I'd try and find one off a 2nd gen then graft the whole roof over.

will the roof support the extra weight? and will it keep structural integrity are the only issue i can see if it fits

It would be easier to get an aftermarket OEM mate. Cheaper and easier.

My parents had a aftermarket electric sunroof installed to their Mazda 3. All up it cost them $1100, it was a pretty good unit as well. I would expect the price to be very similar for a Magna.

A whole roof cut from a wreckers will set you back $150-$250. If you know some panel beaters, the roof can be cut off and the new roof attached (4 welding points similar to OEM) Only needing a pillar smooth and paint.....Well this is how madmagna advised me if i were to do it (not sure if he meant roof SKIN or whole roof, I need clarification on that)
As said, It'd be easier to get an aftermarket one installed.

My guess is the whole roof. I did consider that option before but I reckon it's not cheap nor easy.

Not by a long shot, but if you wanted to retain an OEM look and did manage to find an OEM fitted sunroof (the ones with genuine MMAL/MMC controls) it might be worth it....but mannyyyy factors have be considered. overall even with a $150-$250 roof cut you won't see much change out of $1500+

The roof panel is very different as it has tabbed folded metal edges (as in the glass panel seals seal directly on a folded metal edge) The wiring wouldn't be a massive issue, but there are 2 drain tubes to worry about. You would have to replace the roof to fit the OEM sunroof.
Aftermarket ones these days are very good and cheap-ish. Plus they will work with your existing roof as the sunroof sits in a 'pan' and thats what the glass seals against.

I got my after market one through these guys. The 700 series cost me $3200 and done a freaken good job. The 900 series is just $200 more. I made a thread about it on my old account, with a kilometre of screen dumps, but I think it was wiped when I changed user accounts. Big waste of money I think, as the novelty wears off.

My KJ had an aftermarket sunroof installed in 2003. Still going strong, nothing to fault. The seals are still shiny and black.
