for all those people that think that installing a alarm is good, well it is, but go one more step futher, when your installing your alarm most people put the alarm in the engine bay, put your self in the robbers shoes. Once you have opened the door/smashed the window you u pull the lach for the bonnet, By that time the alarm has gone off, Where is the first place you look, The engine bay, Before that, If you do my theory the robber wont get past this point...My theory that works!! (Ive tryied it on my friends!!!  ) why put the alarm in the engine bay when you can put inside of the car, try and sit in a car when you have a siren screaming in your ears, most sirens are that loud once it has started it practicly defens you, try and sit and hot wire etc some thing while you have a siren goin nuts in your ear, its a scientific fact that you can't do things properly when there is a loud distraction (trying to drive with your sterio pumping   )you become more awear of wats around because you cant hear things just music, back to the robber, if he is trying to do something to your car while he has a siren in his ear there will be more chance he can't because he is under pressure trying to make the robbery quick as possible, the sound waves bouncing of the inside of the car, twice as loud, plus if he does get past this point and trys to find the wire for the alarm it hard because you dont know where the alarm is to track the wire to the battery, experiment wit your alarm put it in place that are just strange, i knew a guy the modifieyied his air vents to place his alarm, now who would look there!!!, external swicth to disable the alarm is also a way to not get a hearing aid early then needed

you could also get a screemer like they have on some house alarms, just makes a very loud high pitched sound.. put that under the dash and watch some one try and stay in your car :bowrofl: plus they are very cheap

I thought a GF in the car is just as good (screamer) :bowrofl: :bowrofl:

Any alarm can and will be defeated, the most you can do is slow them down. There are many good places to hide a siren where it can be heard outside but where it will be very unlikely to be found (I'm not telling where). Also inside the car there are many good places to hide piezo sirens which are compact. You have to run these sirens either off a battery backup circuit, or fit a bonnet lock or relocate the main battery to somewhere that is not accessible via normal means (possibly boot + disconnect the release lever/button).
In the end though there are things called earplugs. Once they shut up the external sirens, the internal sirens are very quiet from outside if they have not smashed a window. Again if they can locate these sirens they can be easily shut up even if they are the battery backup type (I'm not telling how).
