hey guy was just looking on the RPW site and saw there intake manifold and was just wonder in how it works?

cos its look as if they take a stock one cut it up and weld a bigger peace of tube on the back?

would i kind of be right in saying this

cheers

EDIT: heres a pic so you no what im on about http://www.rpw.com.au/Photos/V6%20Intake%20Manifolds/manifoldsingle6g722.JPG http://www.rpw.com.au/Photos/V6%20Intake%20Manifolds/Manifoldsingle6g72.JPG http://www.rpw.com.au/Photos/V6%20Intake%20Manifolds/manifoldsingle6g724.JPG

I think you summed it up pretty well.

Would it be an improvement? Depends on how good or bad the original manifold is - but from what I've learned on the forums, there's not a noticeable difference in modifying the intake manifold.
I'm sure some tuning principles could be used to make a good intake, but I doubt this is one.
From what I've seen, the 20V 4AGE has a good intake - the large (plenum?) has 4 individual runners protruding into it with radiused ends, while the plenum tapers from a large diameter at the first runner down to a smaller diameter at the last runner - this keeps the air velocity constant across all 4 intake runners for consistent air volumes into the combustion chambers.
Without seeing inside this intake, I'd guess that the runners are simply welded to the side of the tube.

Yea i got one just like that, i only paid $300 for my one (second hand), ill be honest yes it does give improvement especially down low & in my case awesome value for money in terms of perfomance gain, the problem is RPW wants $1,000 for it. Id have to say you d be disapointed with gains you get for $1,000. Buying a piggy back & tuning it will cost the same with much more kw increase per $1 spent IMO.......... & yes you right its just stock one cut of & bigger pipe welded on

I honestly dont think they would have done as well as Mitsi tuning the intake to match the engine. Im always sceptical about these after market plenums.

Ill put my car on the dyno to see what the gains if any are......

Guys, there is 1 member here who is getting 235kw ATW with a standard manifold

To date, on Dyno tests, I am yet to see ANY aftermarket or modified manifold work to get decent gains. If you can get some bottom end out of an auto is good of course but how much top end do you sacrifice

And as with anything RPW, it most likely wont fit, will fall apart in 2 weeks or will be someone else's rip off or all of the above

If RPW could incorporate a supercharger inside that plenum chamber they would be on a winner. lol
