Hi Guys

Ive just got a 2003 KJ verada and im not overly happy with the sound quality on the 10 speaker stereo. The steareo in my parents 380 is a hundred time better, mine sounds like it just lacks any depth, its ok, bt pretty average and if you turn it up a bit the sound quality becomes very agerage. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks.

Really, the speakers are shithouse from stock. You are much better off getting some aftermarket speakers if you want better sound. of course, a new Head Unit goes a long way too.

I reccomend Alpine everything for good quality and features without breaking the bank

The KJ system is actually very well equipped for a stock sound system. Just spent the day fitting an Alpine head unit and head unit power pack (its on Alpines website if you don't know what that is, basically boosts power to 45w rms x4) to a members KJ, which is currently still operating the stock speakers, and it sounds sensational for an otherwise stock system. Definitely a good way to go if you don't want to overspend.

I must agree with the use of the power pack, otherwise LOC's and an amp would be the go, but thats getting a bit pricey.

The Premium audio head unit that comes with the TL/TW VR-X and Verada are more powerful than the rest of the head units in the Magna/Verada range, and in my opinion provide the same sort of quality audio as an aftermarket head unit on the stock speakers. Having said that, this power pack makes the world of difference to the factory setup, I'd be hard pressed to choose any other option for the average user after better quality sound on a budget.

Both of the cars I am wrecking at the moment have the premium sound systems set up in them and to be honest, for a factory sound system they sound very good

Yes, you can spend $$ on aftermarket but having said that, unless you are going to spend quite a bit of money, I think you would be hard pressed to get a sound system that can compare with the stock system

When I had my TJ I was running an Alpine head unit & standard speakers through a Boss Audio (cheap) 4ch amp and two 12" Clarion subs which i got for $150 from ebay running off another cheapo amp.. Best damn sound system I've ever owned.. Was really surprised how well the stock speakers went with the amp!!

I added a set of twin 12" kicker subs to my sound system and kept the stock speakers. Once you dial down the bass going to the speakers, the sound is excellent. I can turn it up to the point that I want to get out and hide in the bushes and there is no distortion. For stock speakers they are incredible...

When I got my car the driver's door speaker was blown, so I ordered a new one from spare parts (was like $55) and on the box it says they're made in Australia by Clarion. I also ordered a new door tweeter (wiring came apart) and it was something straight from Japan. It was only $18 or something too. MR924197 iirc.

I had the premium sound system in my TH sports sounded ok. My parents had a TJ advance with the stock splits at the front and wow they sounded nice bass and clear for stock car speakers they were good.
