I've got 3rd gen xi with para's and i just realised today that I've got a small second bulb in there with my main lights that i never even noticed. I can't tell if its even coming on because its right near the main bulb, but even if it was on i doubt it'd be noticable as it's only be 3-4w.

So... wtf is this bulb for then? I thought parking lights maybe but my parking lights are completely seperate. They are T4W which seems common for sidelights and parkers. Whats weirder is i've only got the bulb on the passenger side light, not the driver side, where its' just a socket. In my dads car which is ei with para's, hes got two sockets no bulbs.

Any idea?

I am guessing you have one-piece parra's? The polycarbonate lens extends continuously across the headlamps and the blinker in one piece?

Anyhoo, the parra's are not only fitted to the Verada's, but also to Magna Sports and VRX etc models. In an Aussie spec Verada (up to TJ anyway), the parkers are mounted out at the corner of the front bar seperate entirely from the headlamp unit (In a US Diamante, that corner lamp in the bar would be a blinker). In a Magna with parra's as standard, there was no parker lamp in the front bar - so parkers were fitted in the parra's.

I would therefore suggest that at some point your car has had a headlamp replaced, and the replacement came from a Magna rather than a Verada. Thus it has the lamp-holder and short piece or loom to back surface of teh lamp unit, instead of just a blanked-off lamp hole as the Verada headlamp units have.

I would quite like to try having parkers in the parra's of my cars (several have done it), and would like to try the silver-but-flash-amber bulbs in my Verada front bar as blinkers. Thing is, I can't quite make the looms interchange, and I don't want to chop and join wires..... amybe I'll do it one day......
