Hi !
So i wanted to upgrade the stereo.
I bought some speakers but the problem was the tweeter didn't fit the stock tweeter mount.
The magna's quite easy, its my first time fabricating. So if anyone runs into this problem here is a rough guide to making your own tweeter mounts.

Here is the problem, stock tweeter mounts were small. I had to buy a set of stock base model ones from the wrecker for $20

This step took almost 2 days. Had to wait for glue to dry, test fit, reposition. The one in this pic i didnt end up using at all. I wanted it as close to the stock angle as possible. I made those rings with a dremel and drill piece becuse i didn't have a circular saw or proper drill

Its monday 1am atm. Started this thursday arvo.
Its currently in bog.

Since i'm putting in a car pc, my next mod will be to cutout the ashtray/cig lighter area for a preamp or headunit. And moving the ciggy lighter lower if it can fit.

Good idea man, gonna give this a go when I get my new magna. What material did you use to wrap it before you glassed over it?

polar fleece is the best stuff to use, highly absorbent and very stretchy, use it fluffy side in, as its a pain in the ass to sand if you dont

Hi !
I used an old t-shirt
i couldnt get it around the shape so i fibreglassed 70% of it then did the rest afterwards.
I'm onto the trimming stage now, first time really retrimming too! i hope araldite works !!!

yea, when its done i'll post more photos.
I'm trimming it in black vinyl/leather atm and its working out a LOT harder than i thought. Harder than EVERYTHING
If it fails, might have to sand it smoother and paint it.

araldite will fail pretty badly imo, too difficult to work the material while you try to stretch the contours of the pods. you really need a contact glue that is instantly workable, and take heaps of time with it. Remember that fabric backed vinyl tends to only stretch in 1 direction, which will make it a total nightmare in this case, and i dare say it will be nigh impossible to wrap without stitching a seam in the material.

A possible alternative would be to use speaker cloth, and use a thin, tacky glue that wont soak through the cloth, and use that to trim in.

I just spent the last 4 hours removing a trim (was a foam layer i put then leather), messed it up badly.
Its pretty much impossible to trim this shape smoothly
Painted it matt black, then it showed how bad my sanding was!
I brang it to the local re-trimmer. Will get it back late next week.

MASSIVE FAIL FOR ME :(

Have you considered flocking? Not sure where you would get the powdered fiber stuff from to do it, but it seems to work.. I think the general idea is paint black, apply glue, apply black fluffy fuzz stuff, and it has a textured non glossy finish and hides slight imperfections.
