Hi all, I have a query about the tripmeter function Fuel Range. How long (how many minutes or kilometres) does it take for the car's computer to update the range estimation?
What happened is I parked my car at a friend's place who have a quite steep driveway (about 20-30 degree angle I reckon) and once I hit the road again I lost 70-80 kms of my predicted range. This happened twice, so not a one-off incident. During my about-15 minute drive home, the reading reclaimed 40 of the lost kms, and a final 10 at home when I turned my engine off and turned key to ACC but not START. I'm sure the rest (another 20 or so) would have come back had I driven long enough, and am guessing it takes about 10 minutes per reading update.
Any thoughts, answers, or other experiences with this?

I get that a lot when parked either way steeply. I lose or gain km's. Not sure on how long it takes to come fully right.

I am glad the 380 has a lot better fuel gauge than older Mitsi's we've had in the family. 85 Colt and 91 Pajero, my god, you'd have half a tank, go up a hill and be running out!! It was a constant up and down thing during normal driving. Crazy.

you'd hope the design would have advanced in the last 25 years...LOL

i went on a long drive the other week in the country and return, on the cruise control at 110 for about 3 hours each way..my DTE went up to around 590k's after i then filled up when i got back...
then driving in my normal city style, over a period of time the DTE was dramatically dropping to it's normal level of about 450k's per tank..

I certainly do hope so, and am thankful it's improved. I mention it also because my Falcon's have been solid as a rock, with the gauge much more steady. The 380 is good.

Mine with city driving in Canberra usually says 590 DTE when I fill it up. I usually fill when trip meter shows I've done around 520-540.

The range to empty updates every 10km. The average fuel updates everytime a litre of fuel is used as noted on the total fuel counter. This is on mine but I'm sure the 380s are the same. The way you drive, traffic condition and average speed plays a lot in the range to empty and average fuel readings.

Sometimes my DTE will go down 20kms at a time, which is a tad annoying.
