howdy all..

i put a new set of plugs in the 380 the other day , thought i'd share a couple photos if anyone hasn't seen under the cover before...

very straight forward job to get the inlet manifold off..
just need inlet gasket and i used NGK iridium's.

Might be a good bunch of posts for the 380 encyclopaedia thread?

I think the inlet gasket is re-usable?

Sure is, but if in doubt or you damage the old one a new one is only $26 from your local Mitsu dealer.

there is no way i'd reuse the gasket...buy a new one and torque the inlet to the correct spec and you've got nothing to worry about.

inlet gasket = MD199282 $17.60

i did these plugs at 90k's , they still looked allright..the colouring was how it should be on all 6..
I'm not a fan of Bosch spark plugs (which are factory fitted) , so the NGK iridium's were my choice for replacement.

while we are on the topic of part numbers, if anyone wants to know,

Oil filter = MD352627
sump plug crush washer = MD050317

if it's a metal gasket it can be reused 6 million times. (exaggeration but can be used many times)

Sure is a lot more complicated with a supercharger on.

Personally,I won't be changing the plugs for at least 100,000k's and certainly not prior...unless fuel economy or performance deteriorates.

One must be careful to not fall into the trap of thinking that constantly spending money equates to good servicing.

Check out this thread for a discussion on 380 spark plugs:

I'm with Tuffy, the inlet gasket is perfectly reusable. But for peace of mind, for around $20, get a new one if you want.

I reckon when the plugs needs doing i might contemplate selling the car as it will be a PITA to pull the Supercharger off lol

Why does the charger need to come off to do the timing belt?!
