i posted the followin in the MOGWA forums and i though youd be interested in the response i got from Sam6G72:
Q: can anyone confirm that that a stock 3.0L (6g74) will accept a 100hp hit of NOS woring with stock internals what kinda internals would you want to upgrade to make sure a 100hp hit wont blow ya sky high??
A:
3.0 so I would assume you mean 6G72? Yes 100 shot is no problem.......well it actually depends on gas because we have better pump gas quality regardless of the octane rating system, but over here 100HP shot is no problem on your 6G72, there's plenty of guys running 100 shot dry systems with nothing but a higher flowing fuel pump to be safe(colder plugs are a good idea too).....and if you're going to run a wet system, I will warn you that the 6G72 plenum isn't all that great at distributing liquid. There's also plenty of people running 75 shot with no other fuel or ignition modifications, I ran 75 for a while and used it alot and all my cylinders had perfect compression and also a guy running a 100 shot for about a year, still has perfect compression as well. But the king of nitrous systems is direct port but it's more than double the price of the other systems and you don't really need it.........but you will definitely want to get a bottle heater if you want consistent pressure and power. Is your engine 9:1 compression?
I forgot to sign in but the above message was posted by me if you didn't figure it out already, lol. I also forgot to mention that it's not your internals that are the problem, your internals will not break from an additional 100HP.......it's KNOCK and your gas that you have to worry about and knock will kill any engine no matter what it's made out of. But your internals will handle much more than an additional 100HP. There are 6G72 engines holding 600HP on stock internals. You have to get something that can measure knock and that way you can find out the maximum nitrous you can spray for the type of gasoline you will be using and it will also be useful in deciding how much to retard the timing if you want to spray a larger shot. If your engine is 9:1 and the gas you're using doesn't cause knock, then you should be able to spray a 75 shot without measuring anything or worrying about knock.....BUT make sure it's premium gas, and then when everything is working fine with 75, you can upgrade your fuel system and possibly get the new Apexi S-AFC which has knock measuring capabilities as well as 12 point fuel adjustement. That way if you want to go with a 100 shot you can run the spray and some timing retard while checking for knock, and if it doesn't knock then advance the timing back some, repeat that until you're back at your original timing or you see any bit of knock, if you don't experience any knock, then you'll be able to run the 100 shot. I know for a fact that we can run 100 shot on our 6G72 engines in the U.S. on pump gas without retarding timing........a larger shot like 125-150 won't even come close to breaking the internals either but you'll have to use race gas to prevent knock or use a device that automatically retards timing when the nitrous sprays. SO basically what you have to worry about is finding out how much you can spray without knocking on your pump gas. But as far as horsepower goes, 100 additional horspower will barely tickle your stock internals. Australia is not too well knock for nitrous or gas quality and I don't want to guess about how much knock your premium gas is able to prevent.......sooooo I would recommend you find out by using a knock measuring device, larger fuel pump, and timing retard device, while spraying the nitrous.

[quote:c8b24365b9]i can see im gonna have a lot of fun with this NOS i might have to get a 'test' system hooked up for November, in time for the Magna Meet
i should be seing a VERY nice tax refund heading my way anytime soon, so ill see how i go [/quote:c8b24365b9]
