View Full Version : Sound deadening

Recently had a new sound system put in, pushing out around 400w of bass.
Its sounding superb, but at times, with certain tracks I get a very distinct buzzing from the rear-view mirror. I know it's definitely due to the sound vibrations, as when I grasp it with my hand, the vibration stops.

Just wondering if anybody can suggest some sort of foam insulation or other deadener that I could fit to the mirror to reduce the vibrations, and stop the sound?

thanks.

pull the mirror apart and see where it's got movement , and rectify it.....not hard.
stick anything in there..

My mirror used to vibrate heavily with bass, but at around 50 to 55Hz it would actually buzz - very annoying.
I found that if I push the mirror upwards as far as it will go, that the vibration was less and the buzz is gone - this position either moves it out of the moving air or with the 2 ball pivots being at the limit of their travel, they hold position stronger.
